Well for a great welcome home I took my baby ( Z ) with my wife to dinner 1st day back from deployment, only to come out and see some jerkoff put a sunroof in my top,
I am in northern Illnois, I in no way want to attempt this on my own, This car is virtually like new 15K miles, I am aware if the problem wear spots so need a few suggestions.....
There a far and few companys who do this and do this correct right??
I know I cant let the Nissan guys do it as they call in someone anyways.
Any help on who to trust this to??
if I have to drive it someplace to get it done "The right way" So be it.
But also if reinstalling a factory top, is there normally a warranty m, or should I wait for spring to do this also??
Thanks in advanced
Peed of Retired guy..........

The Z roadster uses a pretty convention method of attaching the top to the header and frame bows. The fact that it doesn’t employ a padded headliner or other interior trim items makes the replacement of the top a straightforward procedure.
Most every city and metropolitan area in America still hosts a few old fashion Auto upholstery and trim shops. A large part of this business is the repair and replacement of convertible tops. Ask around for recommendations, and visit the shop to be sure your conformable with them doing the job.
I’m assuming that this repair will be covered by your insurance policy. If so, consider asking the shop about supplying one of the higher quality, three layer fabric tops instead of a stock two-layer vinyl/twill top. Bearing in mind the cost of any stock Nissan part, the up charge for a high-end, after market top may not be much if anything at all.

Who has the aftermarket tops,
I dont want who ever installs it to give me b s excuse that we had to do extra here and there, the typical excuse to charge more,
I never knew about any other high end ones, If possible do you have a link??
Thanks for your time
Ron

You might want to check out www.chicagoz.com . I'm confident someone there can point you the right direction.

thats a pretty good site. It gives you two options:
A) buy the top online and have it shipped to you or the repair shop of your choice
B) you can type in your zip code and it will give you recommended shops that use their tops.
I used option B just a month ago. I'm in Charleston SC and it listen 3 or 4 places. I called around and the entire thing cost me $1150 with the upgraded top. It turned out great

Thanks, I keep seeing people saying that Nissan has an ungraded top, I have checked with dealers, they are trying to push or sell the top Assy,($5500.00) I find online a genuine top is around $1100-1200. , I had found an aftermarket like GAHH or Robbins would cost me Approx. $700.00 for the Stayfast one,
Does anyone have a part number for the Nissan Upgrade?, And if so Is the Material that much better or different??
Thanks again
Ron
