Bmw suspension is undisputed. the ride quality will be much much better.
Cosmetically i think thats in the beholders eye.
And in terms of fun to drive i wouldnt know, ive never driven a z4. Both are rear wheel cars with a short wheel base (usually tons of fun) But i would imagine that the Z has the upper hand. Plus it has a sexy exhaust note.

Owning both a convertible 350z and a convertible bmw, I feel well qualified to speak here. I don't have a z4, I own a hard top convertible bmw 335i.
I don't know what generation Z4 youre referring to but if it has the n54 motor (6cyl TT) then the z does not hold a candle to it.
Stock vs Stock, BMW wins all day in every aspect of the game.
With a piggyback ($400) and basic bolt ons, there is no problem hitting over 400whp 400wtq on the bmw. You're not going to see near that on a Z without a tt kit.
Add meth and nitrous and you're sitting close to 500 at the wheels. Mind you, this is on the BMW STOCK block, STOCK fuel system, etc...
I also run a 93rm2/e85 fuel mixture which puts me at about 99 octane in my daily driver and it ends up costing me around $3.15 a gallon ($2.7 e85 $3.6 93)
Handling is superb in the bmw with excellent steering feedback and wonderful predictability.
If you are comparing the z HR against a normally aspirated soft top z4, get the Z and nitrous will be your bang for the buck.
