Talking So HAPPY! picking up my roadster tomorrow!!!

Hi you all!
I am new here. Just bought a 04 silverstone roadster with burnt orange seats. Going to pick it up tomorrow, anything that i should be aware of? any tips or suggestions would be great! I already told dealer to take their plate frame off haha! My sales guy told me i do NOT need to break it in because Z engine has been redling for 48 hrs brefore they been put on to the car. He also mention about ECU adopts your driving habit, so I need to drive it hard once in a while for the first few hundred kms. Is this true? but my friend has a z coupe said i need to break in and it state the period of breaking in in the manual, so im kinda confused now!

anyways, i cant wait to pick up my baby, i was going to get s2k but once i sat in Z, s2k is history man! damn i love this car. i will post up some pics later tomorrow. take care guys!!

Ack! Don't trust the dealer! Keep your engine under 4000rpm for the first 1200 miles. If the factory ran every engine for 48hours they would consume tonnes of gas and pollute like madness. That doesn't ring true to me.

Read the manual would be my first piece of advice. There's info there about rolling up the windows with the remote, etc.

Default Advice

My advice to you is this

1) IGNORE all future advice from this dealership. There factory engineers recommend a breakin period of 1200 miles keeping it below 4ooo rpm. His advice was bad bad bad. Read the manual, ignore this dealership. Seriously.

2) There is NO WAY IN HELL that they redline brand new engines for 48 hours. No way no how. He is either lying, or completely ignorant. I am not sure which is worse. (even if this was a good idea, they would not tolerate ANY procedure that requires a new car to be tied up for 48 hours while technicians re-fill it with fuel.)

3) Be sure to tell them NOT to drill for the front license plate. (if it aint too late). If you need a front plate there are better options than drilling holes in the front bumper.

4) Get ready to wear a silly grin for a while. 8*)

1200 miles that's what I read in the manual and that's what they told me here. I have 1276 and it came fast. Finally opened her up.

I figured...better be safe than sorry.

Congratulations!

congrats......cool car to drive, must break in. Take it easy the first 1200 miles keep rpm under 4k.

Be very careful when you make lane changes with the top up because of the blind spots.

Be Sure to check and make sure the tonneau cover is even. See the thread on the holes in the canvas top for info and pics. If it doesn't look even to you then ask them to check it.

thx for the adivce guys. Yep, i was going to do 1200 b break in jusst on the safe side anyways.

last time i saw the car, it already has dealer frame attached to the bumper!!!! does that mean its already been DRILLED???
its the law to have fornt plate in BC, but I am gonna take them off anways, since cops dont bother with them too much. Damn i wish there are no holes on my bumper when i go in tomorrow (cant go pick up today since my old car is still in the process of returning to stock, almost done tho, only subs and amp left keke)

so what if they already drilled the holes? anything they can do to cover it up?

Default plugs

If the regular nissan front frame is installed then they drilled your bumper.

There is a company selling "bumper plugs", but I don't have specific info. I was able to head off my drilling at the pass.
