Default backwind glass

Hi Guys. I am a new member to the forum.
I have just bought a 2008 350z roadster. It is hot in the footwell compartment with the heat off or on vent and the roof is down. It seems that I have to use the AC to keep comfortable. Is there a modification to fix the heater "leak"? Is there an aftermarket kit to make rollbar glass screen removable so I can get more air up the middle to cool the footwell?

That may not be a heater leak. That could be a cracked header. I.e. engine heat.

^ agreed, you should take it to an exhaust shop (unless your car is still under warranty, in that case take it to the dealer). if the header is cracked, you could either get one off of a totaled z in the market place, or you could use it as an excuse to go after market. I'm not really sure if its something that is able to be welded.

I wouldnt be too worried. My Z and my buddy's Z has the same exact problem. Take it to the muffler shop to be safe. It's also a combination of exhaust heat and heat dissipation from the transmission tunnel

I've noticed the exact same thing in my '07 roadster. I've just figured that it was engine heat along with warm air blowing through the vents when the A/C isn't on.

Congrats on the Z!

I noticed the same thing when I first bought mine (new). Seems normal. After 6 years, I barely notice that now.

Are you referring to the plastic wind deflector w/Z logo?
That wind deflector is the best thing Nissan came up with in regards to wind control for roadsters!

It seems that the consensus is that the there is no problem. However, if I knew how to safely install a shutoff valve on one of the heater hoses, I would try it. That would certainly stop the heater core heat, if that is the true root cause of footwell heat during vent mode.
