Default Z Roadster - Am I Missing Something in my Trunk?

While cleaning my ZR, I removed spare tire, and discovered an empty space in lower wall. It appears that an interior piece is missing?

In the area marked, should there not be padding/insulation or trim of some kind?

This is the only picture I could find, but it doesn't look like anything is missing.

The spare tire cover and carpet will fit right up to the recess in the piece at the front of the trunk.

If it's not a detrimental piece missing then there is no need to fret.

Actually, it has been removed and is for sale at:

https://my350z.com/forum/socal-marke...wood-subs.html

This is the reason I was in the trunk area. I am going with another sub set-up, enclosure in stock sub compartment.
