Just some info for you guys that you may already know:

Armour All has silicone in it and extended exposure can break down rubber, I have seen some claims it does the same with PVC.

I would be careful what I put on the top (OEM) because it could break down the PVC eventually. I have seen old Nissan and Mazda trucks from the 90's that the material on the door panels would just be sagging and falling off from the Armour All.

This isnt my area of expertise, but I try to avoid Silicone based protectants. I'm lucky mine stays in the garage and is driven very little, but there are products out there just for tops. I have had a couple of Jeeps and there are specialty products for them so I assume other convertibles have similar products.

Again, just my .02.

Yeah Gusto, pics would be good, just curious of how it looks, also year of car, and how its stored (outside, in sun, in garage, etc.) just for everyones reference. Also when you used it (meaning it was 5 years old and used it on it then or whatever. And also how many times you have used it on the top.

Sorry for so many requests but you have the most info right now it seems. Thanks.

I recently purchased and used the Forever Black Convertible Top kit (same as the OP) from eBayMotors.

It did NOT work well on my OEM top at all. It didn't spread well, hard to explain, but it's a black colored (dye) thick liquid and a foam sponge, and it just didn't spread well on the material of the top.

My top wasn't THAT faded to begin with, it was actually in really good shape for its age, but when I finished the color wasn't really that much blacker or deeper, if at all.

I guess it's better for vinyl, plastic, smooth, etc tops?? Our OEM top is a cloth-like material.

I think I'm going to pressure wash it off. Any other suggestions for preserving and deepening the black?
