Default getting a new top... should i go cloth or vinyl?

Ok so I'm finally getting a new top installed. After looking around for the best deal one of the local shops gave me good prices. I'm stuck between sticking with an oem vinyl or going with a cloth top. The price difference is only 100 bucks both including a 5 year warranty. Just wondering some opinions, any benefits of one over another? Any guys that have had both? I've heard that cloth is a softer weave and easier to operate in cooler temps. Is there a difference in road noise? Durability? Let me know.. thanks

I don't own a Z roadster.But,I've owned more converts than I can remember.
IMO,go with cloth.A GOOD cloth.A top is something that you do not want to cut corners on the expense. When I refer to cloth,I'm talkin about Hartz cloth quality. Not a cheap canvas.A Hartz top should also be quieter than a vinyl, will fold easier in colder temps.Cloth without a doubt will look better.A major point is the install. You can take excellent quality material and have a novice install it and it will look like crap.Look for a shop that has known quality in their installs.A proper convertible top shop have a tight fit,no wrinkles in the corners...look like a hard top.One more thing, never lower the top when its wet.It will never look the same if you do.

I replaced my top last year and went with the OEM.. More morey but they claim their new replacement tops have been restuctured to prevent the rips that occur through time on the top corners..

A friend of mine decided to save some cash and went with the cloth top which blows mine away.. Looks for more better......

My top was in need of replacement. Should I have kept the Z, I would have gone with a cloth top. Of course, I reside in California, and the only elements that I would have encountered would be rain and sun. Those ZR owners that reside where snow and salt are present may consider the vinyl.
