Just bought a 2007 roadster with only 29K miles. It is my first convertible and main ride with 2 motorcycles as secondary transportation . This car finally replaced the 2004 G 35 coupe 6MT the now ex wife made me get rid of for fun to drive.

I daily drive the Z in SoCal. It's no fun to drive home as I'm in bumper to bumper traffic for 30 minutes. Thanks to this, according to the trip computer, I have an average speed of 20 MPH and 16.7 MPG. That's pretty consistent.

Driving on the highway is fine and the car's handling and speed give me confidence around crappy California drivers. However, it's loud. I don't care about it being loud with the top down--that's expected. Top up, though, and the noise is heavily blunted, but I do have to crank the Bose to hear stuff like talk radio.

Sucks over speedbumps. Sucks going from stoplight to stoplight around town. Awesome when the roads open up and I drive through mountains.

It's a great car when it doesn't have to start and stop. All the car review magazines love the car, but it's because they're testing them on mountain twists and tracks, not shuttling to and from work in a city of millions.

I kind of get why the person who owned the car before me only put 6,000 miles on a 2007 model car: it wasn't practical for them most of the time.

I've had the Z now for 6 months and I like it a bunch, but it's definitely not the most compatible car for my daily life.

For me, the ZR is an amazing capable sports machine and for the short drive I use it for daily back and forth to work, it makes it fun. I'm hoping for a promotion at work, but that would mean commuting to an office 75 miles further than the one I commute to now. The super firm but snug fitting sport leather buckets turn to bricks after about 50 miles of continuous use, at least for me and the roar of freeway traffic bouncing around the cockpit with the top up would be tough if I use this vehicle for a 150mi round trip commute on a daily basis.

I'll flog a high mileage Honda I have sitting here at home for a while before I add many painful miles to my 50k mile '06 Touring 6MT Roadster...
