I just ordered my 4.083 gear ratios for my 2005 Z Roadster and I can't wait to get it installed.
Has anyone done this on their daily driver and what should I expectt other then quicker acceleration.
I'm excited because I do want my car to drive more like a track car than a smooth comfortable ride.
Makes my drive home fun every night.

If you're talking about the final drive gearing in the rear-end and you're driving with an auto tranny, that's one thing. I drive a 6MT and don't have any experience with the auto gear ratios. From my experience with the 6MT each of these gears, especially 1st and 2nd gears, are super low. Unless I'm racing someone from a stop light, 1st and 2nd are just too short and exaggerating this, for me, would be a mistake I'd soon regret making...

Had 4.22 in my drag car . Can't think why you want this for a daily driver in stop and go traffic . Top-end speed goes down , the only benefit is your hole shot is quicker . While you are rowing through your gears buddy will pass you in an automatic in town . Great for squaring off corners and letting your end hang out . Hey if that's what you want to do there is no wrong mod .
Enjoy

OK people.. I got to spend the last 2 wks with the new gears on my car..
I LOVE IT! It's the must mod for the money.. I work at a Nissan/Hyundai dealership and had one of my mechanics do it on his down time. I ordered new bearings all around and he said he can reuse the same shims.
HE is a perfectionist and did an AWESOME job..
My car is a daily driver and whoever feels this will not be able to be drivein daily is not one that is passionate about driving.. My commute is about 25mins of local driving and I LOVE the pick up to cut between cars when the opportuinity is there... NO HESITATION!
Someone here best said it and this is the way the 350Z should have been sold..
When it comes to fuel consumption, being that my RPM's are not like what they use to be, I gas has gotten better because I make sure I shift between 2500-3000 rpms and my gas is better than before. When I do get on it I do see that it affects the fuel.. Not Hurting me......
My Advise is to JUST DO IT!
