a friend of mine has the tt...and i had postive thoughts about it until HE got it. lol
the all wheel drive is probably the best thing about it in my personal opinion and the feel of turbo kicking in.
interior design it seems nice but gets old very quick. -the red lighting is horrendous.
the design has been how old now?...i always consider how long a car design has been around. (i feel bad for most owners who end up purchasing a car before a "new" design comes out.)-usually the new design is better...not all the time.

I test drove the TT this summer. Sluggish is the only word to describe it. As for upscale, I can't help but seeing the VW Bug in it and that's about as far from upscale as I can imagine. Exterior wise, the ZR draws more heads that the TT, but the interior is definately sparse.

I drive a 911 C4 "Cabriolet". It is anything but a "chick car". It's just a French term for convertable.

I will disagree, however, with the assessment of the TT as a car to be seen in and the Z a car to drive in. I have been pleasantly suprised at the number of people who have literally stopped, stared and and/or pointed at my roadster as I've driven by. Maybe it is just the novelty of a new model, but this is definitely a car to drive in and be seen in.

You like AWD and a turbo, save 8K and get an STi (I've have one also and I love it). All I have to say about the TT can be summed up in 2 letters 'VW'. The 1.8T VW engine is a good engine... in a Jetta. But knowing that my 2 liter bottle of Mt. Dew has more displacement than your engine makes me laugh.
So to answer your question... A TT is more upscale than a Jetta.

However, it is 9 degrees and snowing outside. My Z sits with its summer tires and rear-wheel dirve in the garage, whereas the Saabs, TT's and Audi convertibles made it to the parking ramp here at work.
But then, I wouldn't change my mind either. I love the Z.

Don't mind me, I'm a Social Anthropologist/Sociologist and I need to know these facts to pass for a car maniac, your wife will understand. BTW, I could have driven in those same conditions in my 72 240Z, they're not so hot.

I have a ZR, my neighbor has the TT. He's recently divorced & saw the attention my ZR was getting from the ladies, so he ran out & bought the TT....I'm still getting more attention in my Z! His interior is more upscale, but performance and exterior styling is much better on the Z. I also like it, because there's not a lot of these running around.
