Default Double dins for roadsters

I have an Alpine double din unit with a backup camera attached. The sun washes out the camera when behind the car and also washes out the screen when the top is down. Has anyone found a unit that can handle the sunshine? I'm looking for Nav and Sirius XM in the unit as well

Not much you can do, part of owning an open car. I own three. Some polarized sunglasses make it worse, too, as the LCD is also a polarized display.

Thanks, I was hoping someone had found a stereo with a screen similar to a kindle screen that you can read in the sun, or at least a very good backup camera that can deal with the light. My technology is 8 years old, someday someone will help us ragtop owners.

What type of backup camera do you currently have? Does it replace one of the license plate lights like this?

I have one similar to this that I got in 2011. I don't think it gets too much washout from the sun.

But as for the screen on the head unit - yeah, almost impossible to see in direct sunlight.

No, it's goes through the license plate. There is nothing protecting it from the sun. I'll look into the type you showed. Thanks loads!

I have a similar backup cam in mine. The sun doesn't wash it out too much at all, and it's very stealthy.

Yea, sadly nothing i have seen can stop the screen from getting washed out when the top is done. Just gotta deal!

Thats the life of exposure and light.

I have a 2015 with one of the best camrras I've used. My gf has a 15 accord with a good camera as well. We also have a 2012, 2014 accords and civics, 2013 XJ 15 F150's and 2014 mini and a couple others. Basically everone I live with or immediate family got new cars the last 4 years.

They all get washed out with the CA sun. It happens. Sometime you just gatta look back. The nerve of some things right? lol
