2004 Roadster with Tire Feathering?
My roadster comes in March 12th. I was wondering how many of you current roadster owners are having the tire feathering issue. Please respond. I need to know if I should prepare myself for this. Thanks.

From what I can find the "feathering issue" has been fixed. Problem is "most" of us with the '04's don't have enough milage to know for certain. I'm up to @1500, but I've only had it since October & she's been garaged for the winter. Check on the Coupe forum, there's a post on it.

Think of it this way...if Nissan has not changed anything for 2004 concerning the suspension...why would you think the 2004s should be fixed?
Just give the 04s some mileage...

I went ahead & realigned & rebalanced when I switched wheels, just in case.

Okay.. call me a novice (probably because I am), but can someone please explain what the "feathering issue" is.
Please refrain from using the words newbie, idiot, or moron in your explination. Thanks!

Simply put, it's where the inside edges of the tires are wearing faster than the rest of the tire. The '03 Z's are notorious for this, but there seems to be some debate if the 04's are affected. I only have 1200 miles on mine so I can't be of any help there.

I had heard that '04's made after 11/03 were fixed for the feathering issue. Also heard that ALL '04 models were fixed.
I have no clue whom to believe, but my gut sinks when I see other '04 owners say they have the issue.
Incidentally, I didn't know about the issue when I bought my baby, and while I was taking delivery after signing all my paperwork, some enraged guy with an '03 with this issue comes up to my and my new car on the lot and starts cussing about the issue. The manager had to call the police to get him to leave.
Not a good way to start my relationship with my Z. Someone give me some good news on the feathering issue for '04's, PLEASE!

Would the tire feathering problem cause the tires to seem much louder than normal @ 30 mph and up?
I noticed that the noise has gotten much worse over the past 1000 miles. I now have almost 9000 miles on my roadster.

Is there a fix to this problem ? I mean once they replace the tires, will it happen again ? (OR it is an issue that can be fixed so that one do not have to change the tires at every 10k)
Thanks
Thanks

6500 miles on my o4 roadster and the tires were noisy. Took the car to a tire dealer and he said I had tire feathering. Made an appointment with nissan and they rotated the front tires ( they took them off the rim and switched sides) and they also said they changed the alignment. Still have the same loud noise and nissan says to give it about 1000 more miles and the tires will even out and the noise will disappear. I have a feeling I will be back at nissan to replace my tires in 1000 miles

Dang it . . .
I was to the dealer yesterday (3/13) & the tech informed me that I have the beginnings of the blasted tire feathering on my baby. I've only got 1900 on it! Will be taking it in for the alignment as soon as I can.
