Smoothdome, did you have to do any body work or paint to get it to look that good? I haven't looked closely at mine yet, is it just stuck onto paint?

Nope. Just used a hair dryer and some fishing line to peel it off. I did have to spend a little time rubbing the tape that was left on the car, but there wasn't any paint damage at all.

Default Silly Question

Ok, so what test fishing line did you use and how long on dryer before you could slide the line?

I only had 4lb test and it kept breaking. I heated emblem for a min or so.

I used a 20 ib test line and heated the emblem for about 4 or 5 minutes on medium heat. The line went thru with ease. I did the same with the recessed emblem on the front (and replaced it with a third part Z emblem}. Looks great!

I used 15 lb test that I found in the garage. Since neither the wife or I fish I have no idea where it came from. In fact, because it was just sitting in the garage, I decided to take off the badge.

Anyway, I heated the badge for a couple of minutes. Tried the fishing line. Heated it some more. Tried the fishing line. ETC. I kept breaking the line through the whole process, but eventually, it went all the way through. Total time was maybe 20 minutes.

It looks great FLZ. I waffled back in forth on the LS or the DB. Damn, I love the DB. I got a blister from where I wrapped the fishing line around my finger. Putting on a pair of gloves helped a lot.

Did you guys have the Z that long before you took it off? I've had my CS for about 8 months and I'm afraid to see a shadow or some discoloration after I take mine off.

Those pictures look so SWEET!

I had mine about 2 months when I did it. Still deciding whether or not to take the 350Z off and put a Fairlady Z badge on.
