Default At what point does dealer get vin #

My Roadster was promised to me in by June 1st. It's June 12th no roadster. They dealership PHYSICALLY moving to a new building.

The GM's first week, was when I ordered my car.

He claims my vehicle has been produced but it on it's way from Japan. I have seen the SAME car I orderd @ another Nissan dealer.

My question: At what point in the ordering process should they get a Vin #?

Omer.

I thiunk they should have the vin # about 30 days before delivery.
If you saw the same car at another dealership couldn't your dealer work out a trade with that dealer or refund your deposit?

I think they get a VIN when the car is shipped from Japan. You can call Nissan, they have a toll free number, and they will track your car and give you and estimated delivery date. They were right on the money for me. If you search through the thread - waiting for my roadster club, you will find the toll free number.
Good Luck

Dr Bonz,

I do run a dealership, but Toyota and Nissan are different companies, therefore they have different procedures and policies.

Richardew,
Thank for your help. Much apprecaited

The VIN gets input into the system when the car is loaded on the ship, at that point the dealer should be able to pull it up if they know the reports to look for, that is usually the problem they have no clue what reports to pull up.

Hold on, you run a dealership, but won't bother just to call and ask the place you bought the car from what the VIN is??

Reed, I'm the only Sales manager for Scion, the only ISM for Toyota.

The GM of my nissan dealer is the person that wrote my deal, That guy is in the process of buying a dealership is no longer therer. So I have no contact at that dealership.

Toyota doesn't get the vin number til it gets on the "F" staus AKA when it gets ont he truck.
