Default Would This Fit In My cubby thing on the dash?

http://www.buy.com/prod/pioneer-doub...209297129.html

What im wondering is can i get this to fit and work in my little cubby. Ive seen people that take off that little cheap plastic thing that comes up and down to close or open the cubby whole and have like a peice of black plastic or ive seen some carbon fiber ones. Would something like this work also. Where do i buy that peice anyone know? I have an auto install guy thats been doin it for 30 years so im sure he could figure out the electrical but im just wondering if you guys think it would fit or whatever. Lemme know. Thanks.

Don't see the dimensions listed but if it is smaller than the opening, don't see why not. Some Navs have a problem with reception in that spot though - might want to look in the electronics (?) forum for some advice.

i took a second look and screen ration is 5.8 ( should fit) but now you wont have good reception in that lil spot.... i mean your signal will suck and its like you driving in a LONG LONG tunnel with no reception =D .....

Pretty cool concept and for $200 that makes it more attractive. It doesn't look like it would allow for an external antenna which surprised me considering it allows for expansion with the back up camera.

I like being able to hear the directions through the car speakers which I don't think you can do with this one unless you buy the amp accessory. If you are going to hook your ipod up to it you would want that capability obviously.

Also, I couldn't find many reviews for it but the two I did see said it wasn't great. Not really enough to sway me in either direction.

IMO, by the time you buy the unit, ipod cable, dash fabrication and possibly the amp you would be better off buying an all in one double din.

Good luck with which ever route you go.

It seems like this is a pretty good alternative to DD for those seeking to keep their stock head unit are there any other companies making these kinds of units?
