Depending on the size of the opening compared to the 350Z, I wonder if it's something I can trim the 350Z trim piece and mold under heat?
Someone already installed a double-din headunit without a trim panel. Pioneer 700BT - he said it fit perfectly, and it looks good form the pics I saw on another forum.

While looking at other 370Z forums for audio upgrades, I came across this thread. It shows the installer replacing the factory speakers, while showing a picture of the head unit. It apears to be a Double Din.

The 370Z Forum: "370Z #2 Basic Upgrade!"

Not only that but it will sound better as well.

Honestly in top end cars there are no rear speakers because SQ "sound quality" is setup for optimal performance. I own a civic and I have taken the rear speakers out so that way I have no rear fill as they call it. If you listen to it for a few days you will get use to it and it will definitely sound better than 4 channels. Think of it this way artist record there music in 2 channel format so the optimum way to listen to it is threw 2 channels. My setup is going to be my fronts and a rear sub that's all. After thinking about it and listening to it it sounds way better. So in a nut shell do not get rear speakers or worry about it.

Also I would not accept that thing bose calls a audio system if they paid me to take it. Anything you put in any car is better than that bose system.

I'm a little gunshy about digging that stereo out of the dash to look for 'em. I'm only slightly less gunshy about letting some local car audio shop turn their HS dropout "technician" loose on my new car...
I played with front-rear fade this evening. Could not figure what was going on. Obviously no rear speakers to fade to.
