Default Volk Time Attack Curb-Rash Paint Remedy

Grazed my T/A's on a curb, which took off some of the paint and scratched the outer lip on the surface slightly (thankfully wasn't very deep at all).

I know how Volk paint codes are impossible to get but I went to the local auto-store and picked up a touch up paint pen. Took about 5 min to decide which shade of red best matched the paint (among 6 different reds). Finally settled on "Centre Red" paint code: HCTT7-C by Holts Dupli-Color touch up paint. Came home, washed the wheels and spent about 20min carefully applying the paint layer by layer. I am by no means a professional painter, I just wanted to make the curb rash a little less obvious. Will have to wait for the paint to dry and smooth the surface to make it even less obvious than it is now.

Here are the results..

Before:
Slight grazing on the lip where paint has come off

After:

You didn't sand it a bit before applying the paint did you?
Also, did add maybe a small shot of clear coat?

Nonetheless, nice match!

mynismo.com also sells the touch up paint to match the red for our TA's. not sure if cost much more than what you paid for the duplicolor. but i just thought i'd let everyone know for future reference.

wow ouch. looks good. but how the heck do you curb a wheel? i have owned like over 20 sets of aftermarket expensive wheels and never curbed them. why are you trying to park so close to a curb? stick the *** out!

No excuses for curbing a wheel I know...but the weather was a bit sh*t and visibility was poor, just didn't see a low lying embankment.

Anyhow, I paid the equivalent of 10USD for the paint.. I am also aware that mynismo is out of stock of the T/A paint and that they don't send it overseas (paint is barred from being sent in international mail). So I suppose this would be an alternative to Z owners who can't get the mynismo touch up paint.

Here's how it looks like, but in RED.

thanks, I think it's a pretty close match... enough to satisfy me at least..!

I have very little experience, or rather none at all, sanding and applying clear coat to paint. Perhaps you could enlighten me?

i used 1/2" pinstriping tape to protect the lips on my TA's. it will completely cover up the uneven lip/curb marks. remember to use a high quality professional tape and not that pep boys stuff!

is it necessary to clearcoat, i slapped on the mynismo.com version.? and if so, is there such thing as clear coat touchup? Also, if no paint and clearcoat is applied, is it bad? rust and stuff?

Have you got a close up of the lip? Can you tell that its been taped?

Ive curbed one of my TAs & cant find any paint for it so this may be an alternative
