big number yet? I don't think you're going to get as much help as you think from the cams re: spool

Of course they will. Not only are we running Tomei's 2nd largest cam for the car, they will be opening up 2mm larger exhaust valves on heads that have been ported, polished. The flow testing alone showed an increase of 37% more flow than stock. Once these cams are adjusted, with that flow increase, on a 4.2 liter motor, they should spool the crap out of 60-1's.

If you are wondering why we didn't do their largest cam, it's because with 1mm over sized on intake and 2mm oversized on exhaust, the valves are very close together and we didn't want to risk dealing with clearance issues.

We already changed the fuel pump and the size of the return line. Tonight we will be increasing the amount of fuel coming from the pump to the fuel rails by adding another fuel line and increasing the size of a few other fuel lines. Even though it was the fuel pump that couldn't keep up, we want to make sure that as we start breaking the 1,000hp mark, we don't max the fuel lines out.

The plan is Thursday Bobby and myself will be towing the car to Doug at TopSpeed to finish tuning and hit the big number.

There will be video and we will keep everyone posted.

Thought I updated this thread, must have been a different one.

So we need bigger wastegate springs. The 10lb springs wouldnt give us more than 24-25lbs of boost which limited us to 948rwhp.

We will be putting larger springs in and either driving back up to see Doug at TopSpeed or wait for himto come see us January 10th. Just going to depend on all of our schedules during this Christmas season.

You know, I wonder if we even made it that far. I will ask Doug if we made it that far. I am thinking we didn't because from my understanding, it's one of the last things to adjust and since were aren't finished, we may not have.

I know you are going to say "you don't remember where the curve started?". That is correct. I worked all day Wednesday, left at 9pm wednesday night, drove all night to arrive to TopSpeed at 5am, slept for 2 hours (maybe), was at TopSpeed till midnight, headed back to Florida and arrived at 10am. I also didn't get to sleep till 9pm the day we got back. Guess how tired I was? My body was completely shutting down. There are a lot of things I don't remember from that trip lol.

To the best of my knowledge, it is. I'm not 100% sure, though.

very nice build. Looks like a big turbo 3.5L powerband, not something with 20% more displacement with heads that flow 37% more than stock.

Marti, any inisight to that?

Its the 60-1 aero that is hurting the width of the power band. They aren't the best spoolers but do make power. Unfortunately, there is limited availability of compatible compressor's available when you are building off of MHI turbochargers. There are a few things that we have to work out that will help the over all spool up and widen the power band, I'm confident that we'll see improvements with some of these changes. Stay tuned, folks. The Ace is still up the sleeve.

in the mean time, check out the new Blow Off Valve Configuration!

We turned to our friends at Turbosmart USA for a Pair of Race Port Blow Off Valves to upgrade our charge system. They got us a pair of limited edition Black Race Port Blow Off Valves and they are ALREADY making a difference! Check them out!

These valves came complete with aluminum flanges and we feel that they will be instrumental in the performance of our turbo system.

You can see more about the Turbosmart Line Up HERE
