Question XM Double Din

Does anyone know any good double din receivers that have XM radio capabilities? I see everyone and the kenwood excelon, and i like that, but kenwood is sirius. I was hoping there would be someting similiar to that with XM. Thanks in advance.

well i think i have answered my own question:
Kenwood radio owners — now you've got a satellite radio choice! The XMDirect XMDKEN100 Smart Digital Adapter allows you to connect the XMD1000 universal XM tuner to your compatible Kenwood in-dash receiver with changer controls. Buy the pair and you'll get everything you need (tuner, antenna, adapter, and cabling) for under $100 — just subscribe to XM Satellite Radio and start enjoying the next generation of radio! The adapter and universal tuner are extremely compact, so they install easily behind your dash or in any other convenient location.

has anyone tried this?

Not sure. I know Alpine allows for a Sirius or XM tuner. I'm just not sure they make any double-DIN's. Any particular reason why you'd prefer a double-din over a single din?

sharum, looks like you and i are way too busy at work:

i like the clean look of a double din, looks a bit more stock (meant to be there style) to me personally, also i don't want a fold out screen, too many moving parts to worry about. i would like the dvd and everything attached. i saw the single din alpine, but it is just way to expensive as a DVD player with no internal amp or screen.

ok, first off i work at best buy in car audio so i should be able to answer almost any question you have.

this is my opinion and view on this issue so take it to heart as little or much as you like.
1)there is a very small selection of DOUBLE din aftermarket stereos... very... very... small selection.
2)any kenwood that is worth anything is Sirius compatible. Kenwood and JVC makes their decks Sirius ready while sony and pioneer make their decks XM ready. to be able to play a different brand of Sat. radio than what was OEM installed on that deck, you need an adapter. this is strictly for those who wish to control thier sat. radio through the deck.
3)if you wish to have a seperate unit such as the SkyFi, SkyFi2, Roady 2, or audiovox for XM, or the sportster for Sirius, then you do not need to worry about what head unit you have, because all of these seperate control modules have a built in FM-modulator or can be hardwired to the deck via RCA cable.

i've covered most of the basics... what else? shoot!

here are a few links to a head unit from Sony, the WX770-MDX

On the XM site there is a link to a product for linking to Kenwood Excelon head units..but beware, some Kenwood models only allow partial functionality when you hook up XM, like mine the X879.

well thank you all for your insight..i know that the xm-sirius debate has been beaten to death so i won't even start that up...but what do you think about this:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-xMc3i5P...9XMDKEN1&o=&a=

would this have limited capabilities? The only reason i am possibly beating a dead horse is that i don't want to lock myself into sirius if i do not like it. i did have XM before, and would prefer XM over sirius just due to the fact that i have had it before and the higher bit rate for music. having said that i have heard that sirius is good also, so i would be willing to give it a shot, just wondering if i am locked in once i get the deck, or is that viable option for choice.

also...how do you rename hyperlinks when posting?

That's the one I was considering..before I read the fine print that it only partially works with the model Excelon I'm using. If you like Excelon and like XM, I would suggest just getting a head unit that is on their list as 100% compatiable.

I have read so many reports that fllp flop on which service offers higher quality,. Some say Sirius because it steals bandwidth from the talk stations to augment the music stations. Others say XM..who knows, they are probably both close or one would have a monopoly.
