Default My Plan

6.5" for door and behind seats components: Focal 165 K2P

10" Subwoofer (not sure where i'm mounting it yet, probably under the rear strut bar): Image Dynamics Competition Subwoofer

Amplifier for the components: Monitor 1 MK4.70

Amplifier for the subwoofer: Hifonics BX 1800D

Headunit: Alpine CDA-9835

LCD TV's for Visors: 5" Farenheit LCD Sunvisor Module

XM Module: Delphi XM Roady2

Reverse Camera: Savv Color Reverse Image Camera

Single-DIN Equalizer: Pioneer DEQ-7600 Digital Equalizer

2 Optima Red-Top Batteries (one to replace OEM and another to power audio/video)

TV Tuner: Emerson Mobile TN-1200 Hi-Performance Stereo TV Tuner with remote 160W 4CH Amp

TV Antenna: Accelevision Amplified Flat Panel Antenna (mounts under the headliner)

Then either the GNet Aurora PC or Image-Engineering In-Z PC.

Does this sound like a good setup? I don't know some of these brands, they were suggested by a friend. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

The two things that stick out to me are the 2 amplifiers. Get something better then Monitor or Hifonics. You've got good stuff otherwise, why lowball on the amps?

Also I wouldn't spend a lot of money on rear speakers, get some $20-50 co-axials for the rear and spend the rest of they money on either a center channel or better front components. Front staging will make your vehicle sound 2000 x better then having good rear fill speakers for video.

Get better co-ax than $20 - $50 if you're gonna go with rear speakers. For that price, might as well stay with the stock ones.

Not sure why you need 2 batteries. You're not running much power. I'd also recommend spending more money on better amps.

A $20-50 coax is going to thrash the stock 32ohm rear speakers. I personally agree why even bother with rears but since he has video he might as well have something for surrond sound. If I were building the car I'd hvae a switch to them off as well for music. Nothing kills imaging faster then rear speakers, especially in a car as small as the 350Z.

Ok, so some ~$80 rears would be fine. Also, better amps, I figured those amps weren't that good, what amps would anyone suggest? PPI? One of the Optima red-top batteries replaces OEM, the other is just for all of the audio and video (the PC, etc.).

Also, what about speakers, would I be better off going with a popular brand? like JL Audio, JBL GTi series?, etc.?

With that little power you'll be running, there's no need for a second battery other than looks. PM Ahsmo, he's running tons of power without problems. I'm running 6 amps, 1200 watts rms off the stock battery. Tractng is also running quite a bit of power, he doesn't have his system fully built yet....soon though.

With rear speakers, get the same brand and line as the front components.

For amps, check out Zapco, Xtant, JL, Phoenix Gold, Memphis Audio. No particular order. All depends on your wants/needs/funds.

Thanks for the info.

Subwoofer: JL Audio 10w7

Front Components: Focal 165A 2-Way Seperate System

Rear Components: Focal 165W3 3-Way Component Speakers

Amplifier for components: Phoenix Gold Ti500.4

Amplifier for subwoofer: Phoenix Gold Ti900.7

I think i'm going to mount the amps under the seats, at least the one for the components will be mounted under a seat.

The 3 way is a total of 6 speakers. It's not a co-ax, which is what would be ideal. The 3 way set consists of a woofer, mids and a tweeter.

So this means it won't work in the Z correct? I'm a little confused as to what will work. Hmm, maybe i'll just get co-ax's all around instead of a component system. Are components just a complete set? Or, would JBL GTi components work?

Components are for the front. They have a mid range speaker and a tweeter. With co-ax, it's all in one. The reason you don't want a 2 or 3 way set in the rear is because there's no where to mount the extra speakers. Also, the rear is just for fill. A co-ax fits the role perfectly.

Go with just the 900.7, it will do everything. That is the latest and last release from PG in the Ti line of amps thus it has all the bugs worked out and it will kick ***

well.... I think my globs of power killed my car once stu. Not sure, it may have just been a fluke, its yet to nuke itself again.
