Default I want to install a second glove box to mount my amps in but...

I'm not sure of what parts I should order...

I'm looking at http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...21&catalogid=2

Do I only need the storage compartment and the door (8 and 7)? Are there any other parts that I'll need to order? What about 4, 5, and 6? People that have done this quoted 200-300 dollars to do this but 7 and 8 alone is less than that so I'm thinking I need something else. Sorry if this has been asked already, just trying to be safe and not sorry.

Thanks!!

I believe you just need 5, 6, 7, and 8. Not 4. I think that 4 is trying to illustrate that main piece that includes the surrounding molding around the two boxes, the one that runs the width of the car.

Those shops that were quoting you at $200-$300 were probably adding a few extra hours worth of labor for the install in the price, even though it takes 5 mins.

This is something I am looking into as well, as I want to mount my additional audio system batteries behind a second cubby like this. If you just install it yourself, it will be a lot cheaper than having a place install it.

Thanks for the reply! I didnt actually get a quote from a shop or anything but there are a few forum posts here that say the total cost of this mod is around 200 bucks. After looking at that site it seems it should be cheaper, maybe shipping was pricey...

I want it to look clean and I'd like to have a detailed writeup that states all the pieces involved to make this a clean install. I guess I'm going to have to take a chance and order the parts Srivero297 mentioned and start taking the car apart. Maybe I'll take some pictures as I go through this learning experience and share the knowledge for the next guy. If someone else has some good pointers or has done before this feel free to share your experience.

I was under the impression it couldnt be done because parts of the glove box door are part of the larger plastic mold that is the entire assembly..

you guys should look for pepople who have taken out their stock glove box cubby to put a sub in both compartments. i did that and got the bin and door for way less than it would cost from a dealership.

i still haven't gotten around to installing it though when i do, hopefully next week when finals are over and im home, i'll report if it fits right or not.

You will need the box (8) and the removable bottom (13).

You can use the existing cover even after the box is installed, unless you plan to access your amps alot, save your money.

The bolts that hold in the sub bracket are reused to hold in the box.

Once I got my PC installed using these pieces, I hardly ever open that compartment.

I'll try and get Jason at Performance to view this thread, and provide a price for the pieces Alang referenced. I'm not sure what the $159.95 includes that Performance has listed at the above link, but it has to be more then what we need, and I bet Jason can beat those prices listed at trademotion.

Ok...

I just went through their parts site and they are missing a couple needed parts on that page...

So you guys want what you need to make a glove box behind the drivers seat aswell? This is with a door that opperates like the one behind the passenger seat...

Ill put together a kit...

But... the piece that someone linked to on our site above for the Glove Box Door Finisher only comes with the Door and the whole rear finisher... You have to remove the door from the finisher and slightly modifty the front finisher piece for it to fit in and act as a door...

The two main pieces you need are the rear finisher that has the door attached to it. And the storage box. Those are the most expensive items.

List price for this kit would be $541.61

$330 plus shipping for this kit.

This kit includes...

Box Assembly
Finisher Assembly - (this has the door)
Tray Rear Floor (plastic piece in the luggage box that is recessed)
Striker Luggage Box Lid (this is like the latch i think, or maybe like a spring so it pops back up?)
Box Luggage Flor Center
2 Screws
Bracket for luggage floor
Carpet Luggage Floor (the carpet in the glove box) (this will only take out $10 from the kit, if you all want me to remove it i can)

Here is a link to the kit...

I have made 2... One for Black, Graphite, and Burnt Orange Interiors... and One for Willow interiors... These are for the COUPE. I can make for roadsters if needed...

All I want is the door. I dont need the actual compartment inside. I just want the door so that it is easier to access in there and so that it looks a little cleaner from the outside. Im gonna have my system batteries in there, so Im gonna be accessing it often enough, so a door is much easier to work either than a removable panel. Remove those panels enough times and the clips will start breaking.

If you only want the door then here you go...

http://www.performancenissanparts.co...oducts_id=1811

It comes with the whole rear finisher... If you do not want that finisher peice I can remove the door from it for you and you will save on shipping... Unfortunatly you can not order the door sepeartly from nissan...

Jason,

I would just like your PN#'s 84990M and 84950Q. I'll just be snapping back on the cover-lid that I already have.

Thank you.

As for making the compartment to have a door in addition to the existing door behind the passenger seat, I'm not sure how/if that will work. I remember when I disassembled mine, and saw how the string mechanism works, that I didn't think you get (2) of those mechanisms to fit and work. I could be wrong.

But in any case Jason, I just need the above (2) parts.

Jeff

Wow. I went out of town and couldnt read all these great replies but I come back to find someones fabbing a kit to do this. Thats great news. I think that after reading what Scafremon and Alang said about rarely accessing the amps, I just would like the storage compartment and whatever mounting hardware is required to mount it. How easily does that cover top come off and back on?

So I need 84990M and 84950Q or the parts listed by Jason afterwards because I didnt see the OEM Glove Box Tray 350z
[84987CD000] as being 84950Q.

Woo its early for me I need to wake up.

Ok so all you need is the bottom tray and the compartment itself.
As Jason posted.

84950Q is something else altogether but it did look like a mounting bracket for the compartment in the pic.

I ordered the storage box and the flat compartment bottom from Jason yesterday. My 100% fiberglass box (modeled after Nazars sidebox) is nearly completed. I've got some great pictures of it and I'll compile all of the install pics and post them asap.

Just wanted to give a big thanks to Jason for his help.
