recommended Amp setting
Does it make more sense when using good quality components speakers (MB Quart PCE or B/A) and a low power amp (50W X4 RMS), to simply bridge the power to the front components and forget about powering the rear speakers? Or bridinging to the front and running the rears from the HU??

Anytime you bridge 2 channels into 1 you get more power and more distortion as well. Sending a dirty signal to nice clean components will not help you much. I would buy a nice 2 channel amp and forget about the rear speakers. That way you have more money to spend on great components and a better amp.

Thanks! The problem is the Alpine 4 channel amp (and a lot of other 4x out there) is only 50W x 4.. It is waayyyy underpowered for decent components. I kind of wanted to use my rear speakers for a little fill-in sound but I'll try it without them. I wish someone made a high-quality amp that was lop-sided, such as 150W x 2 + 50W x 2.

Dude dont' B.S yourself just get 1 4 channel amp to run your highs on preferably 700watts which is more than a enough and 1 channel 2000watts mono block amp for your subs. Your probably not going to use more than half of that 700watt amp on your highs, because mines was too damn loud and 2000watt probably RMS (1000watts) would be hell of enough bass.

wow..that looks nice. What's up with JL's method of describing wattage though? 1.5 ohm to 4 ohm?
Anyway, thanks it looks like some manufacturers recognize the different levels needed for fronts/rear.

dont forget about thePhoenix Gold Xenon 200.4
200 watts rms x 4 1-4ohm
that amp kick ***
JL uses a specific power supply that adjusts itself to product the same power at any ohm load. JL amps like phoenix gold Xenon amps are not the traditional Mosfett amps. The amp architecture is like that of high end home audio amps. Nobody makes these type of amps because they cost so much. As it stands, Phoenix Gold makes the cheapest and the best amps of this type.
I say best because the signal to noise ratio is the best on the market, even amoungst 10,000 dollar prototype amps.
