Which radar detector do you have?

Which radar detector do you have?
With the stinkin' power outlet so far back in the car (stupid move on Nissan's part), my corded Escort pulled the dang suction cups off my windshield because of all the stretched tension. I just got an Escort S2 cordless and am loving it.
Wondering what the most popular detector is on this website.....I'm guessing that the S2 ranks right up there, but I'm curious.

NOTE: You should regularly check the batteries...otherwise good unit in theory, but not in practice. it would suck to get caught only to find out you're batteries went dead.

me got the x50 too... and its connected to the front power outlet with no probs... i didn't know the 03 didn't have a front power outlet... that sucks ... only reason i didn't hardwire it is cause when i put my sunshade up i take the radar detec off ... need a sunshade in sunny cali

Yeah, I have an '03 and there is no front power outlet, which is THE most asinine thing I have ever heard of in a sports car, where 95% of the people who purchase it are going to use a radar detector.
If I use the Escort with the cord, it honestly looks like a clothesline going across the cockpit of the car....ridiculous!
Zenvy, yep, the thing squeals like a squished bunny when the batteries are getting low, so there's no way you can not know that the batts are dying.

Passport 8500 - Hardwired all the way with Mikes mirror mount makes for a cool look. although not very stealthy. A great detector.
By the way I have an 04 where is the power outlet in the front at?
I know what a retarded question.

V1, hardwired and mounted using mike peronek's (MIKE3348) mount:
The newest V1 (1.8+) now has dual POP mode.

Once again, I'm gonna reveal my ignorance ........what does hardwired mean in regards to radar detectors? That the cord is tucked in along it's route from the power outlet or what? Do any of you guys who have them hardwired own '03's? Where is the cord hidden all the way to the back of the car? Thanks.

Hardwired means that the radar detector is (semi)permanently wired to the electrical system of the car and does not require a power outlet.
Some people have run a telephone wire to the fusebox and routed the wire to where the detector sits. There are a variety of installation options for detectors from the conventional windshield mount to mirror mount to stealth mounting a detector near the rear window.
Others, like me, that have the powered rear mirror have actually tapped the power coming off the mirror and mounted the detector under the mirror using the mike peronek under mirror mount.
