Default fabrication has begun!! (56k beware!!!)

started fabrication on my dash assembly. Used an american international dash kit, screwed it in from the back and epoxied the front. Then filled in the map pocket using a piece of plexiglass to house my notebook dvd drive (usb housing) for the carputer setup. It all has been bondo'd to match the curve of the dash. It's obviously still a work in progress and I will be posting pictures as I progress.

epoxied:

plexi in - dvd drive test fitted

starting to bondo

starting to sand

bad pic but it shows the contour

test fitting

here's the lower console area smoothed and painted already (used SEM plastic and vinyl paints - titanium metallic with a satin clearcoat)

nope, spray cans! The SEM plastic and vinyl paints have excellent coverage so no gun is needed. Also, since I am using the satin clearcoat it gives it a nice semi gloss textured finish which looks very stock. So far I've been very pleased with the outcome on the smaller shifter surround.

Very nice. Its nice to see something that someone has done rather than sending it out.

I know there has been others in the past but this seems to be the best thus far.
