Got pics? how does it sound?

I was cautioned on the sub though, that it needed 1000 watts RMS to sound good. Is that the case?

i will post pictures ASAP.

the owners manual...the max handling capacity is 1000 W rms, but the operating range is 500-1000 W. believe me, 500 W is plenty...just ask my fellow commuters and my rearview mirror.

I will be putting about 450 watts to it. I know this sub is loud, but my goal was sound quality. Is it good sq or just a bass monster?

Curious to see your enclouse. What specs is it built to?

That's a great set-up, those components appear to be real nice. Your sub will have more than enough juice with that amp, no worries there.

truly depends on if you want sealed/ported box. Rap ported, techno sealed.

i have sealed for no reason except i don't listen to rap much. but Rap sounds great as well. it has both sq and bass, you will have to be the judge yourself...everyone has different standards.

the box was made at the ideal volume of 0.65 cu ft i believe...whatever alpine recommended. it does have very tight crisp bass...i wonder if my HU also has an influence also, which i think it does. You're gonna have pretty much the same HU as mine, just different display.

I found that the ideal volume was .9 cubic ft. Regardles, if the box is a little large and I don't like the sound, I can fill to reduce the air space.

Good to know. Here are the words of caution on the sub:
"By there sped, the Xenon amp will not be enough for the type X subwoofer. That sub literaly needs 1000 watts rms. The only amp that I would consider teaming it with would be a JL 1000/1 and considering a JL W7 or a combination of alot of other subs would easily destroy a single alpine Type X in SPL, I don't see its advantage unless you are doing strickly SQ and have a ton of money to spend. Even with a JL
1000/1 powering it, most people still listen and say, "So What?". The sub does have great SQ and even decent SPl but it simply needs to much power to get there. If you are looking for the same money, consider a JL audio 12W6v2. They will match the alpine while consuming less power. I would say the same for the image dynamics IDMax and Adire audio Bahma."

What I was advised in response to this is the W6 is a good sub, better than the W7s supposedly, but the type X from alpine is newer technology and should be better.

The 1000 watts RMS thing is a bit exaggerated IMO, since the specs on the sub state max 1000 watts rms. The person who sent me the info above has decent amount of experience, but I think he is thinking I am paying $400 for the type X. I found it for 245 shipped, though it is from a nonauthorized dealer. I purchased the HU, ipod adapter, and amp from authorized dealers, but the speakers were roughly 1/2 from nonauthorized dealers, so I took the risk on those.

Paid $299 for the 9833. Cheapest I could find on the 9835 was $500 from an authorized vendor. The units are the same beyond the display, which isn't worth $200 to me. $300 was my limit on the HU, so I think I did alright. Plus, buying the HU from an authorized vendor was important to me for warranty purposes.

You can put them up where ever, just link this thread to it if you put them in the older one.
