Default 6MT with remote start

Does anyone have remote start with their 6 speed? I have some friends that have done this with other cars and they havent had any problems. As long as the car is not in gear when use the remote start then your ok right? Also I remember one of my friends getting some kind of metallic puddie put on his shifter to help in some way. This would be really convient for me and just wanted to know if anyone has experienced problems with it. I did a search but didnt find what I was looking for. Thanks.

There is quite a bit of info on this over ath g35driver.com.

Our cars have a PNP switch - Park / Nuetral Position switch that tells the ECU when the car is in N. This wire runs between the tranny (switch itself is inside the tranny) and the ECU. You can reference this wire to determine when and when not to allow the car to start.

You still need to engage the clutch to start the car. If you can somhow bypass the clutch you can probally have remote start. I don't think it's possible though.

I have remote start on my 6mt, the only problem was that at the time Clifford didn't have much documentation on my car.

Other than that its been cool.

Nice feature to have--please just don't leave your car in first.

I have the Compustar SWSS-AS with remote start on my 6MT & I think it's simply bad @ss! Totally convenient in the morning before I go to work . I have the neutral safety features which only allows you to remotely start the car in neutral. I also have it setup to not start if the hood is open as well (just in case it's in neutral & someone is working on the car). No issues or problems. Highly recommended so long as it's installed correctly.

I just can't be reasonable with that price tag.

doesn't sound like it's worth the hassle.

I believe Compustar is the only authoorized remote start for manual transmisisons.

Kinda pricey though, and not many locations. Mine is about 150 miles away.

I ahve heard horror stories of folks leaving it in gear, and BAM!
