Question Hooking up 2 10W6's to 1000JL

I'm hooking up my system this week and was wondering if anybody had a wiring diagram for hooking up 2 10W6's to the JL 1000/1 amp.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I was hoping you would reply to this stu! Thanks

Hoepfully my next question isn't a stupid one though... how does a guy know if he wants series/parallel or parallel/parallel?

no problem. it depends on two things. 1, how many ohms your sub is and 2, what load your amp can handle. I believe the JL amps can handle a 1.5 - 4 ohm load. see below, let me know if you have any questions.

2 DVC drivers with Voice Coils in Series / Parallel
Connecting the two voice coils of each driver in series (+ to -) and the drivers themselves in parallel (+ to +, etc.) will result in the following impedances:
Dual-6 Ohm Subwoofers: 6 Ohms
Dual-4 Ohm Subwoofer: 4 Ohms
Dual-2 Ohm Subwoofer: 2 Ohms

2 DVC drivers with Voice Coils in Parallel / Parallel
Connecting the voice coils of each driver in parallel (+ to +, - to -) and the drivers themselves in parallel (+ to +, etc.) will result in the following impedances:
Dual-6 Ohm Subwoofers: 1.5 Ohms
Dual-4 Ohm Subwoofers: 1 Ohm
Dual-2 Ohm Subwoofers: 0.5 Ohm

Yeah, I get that, but which setup is the best for my situation? The series/parallel like you mentioned earlier??

Yeah, I got the 4 ohm 10W6V2's, so series/parallel should would.

Thanks a lot!

Sweet, you'll like them. What amp and type of enclosure. Sealed? Better subs than the w7, IMO.

Amp: 1000/1

Enclosure: JL Stealth box. I bought the box used and the guy before me was also running the 10W6's in them.

d'oh, can't even remember that I posted about your amp. that's what i get for posting during the 17th hour of my 18hour shift.

Did that person post on this forum? I thought I remember someone doing the swap but couldn't find the post. I wasn't sure if the enclosure was deep enough to fit the w6v2s, being that it's significantly deeper than the w3v2s.

Yeah, the enclosure is deep enough because I got one sub sitting in it right now.

Can't remember who I bought it off of, but it was off this board!

Is it possible/has anyone tried to put the 6W0s in place of the stock rear drivers?

Ahsmo: My intention is not to add fill, but rather to have stealth bass. I've owned both sealed and ported JL enclosures been completely satisified with them in cars where the trunks are big enough to accomodate. The problem is that the Z has NO hatch area to spare for me and at most all I want is about a 10" driver of bass.

The rear would be for W0 woofers, not for coaxials, and yes I do understand your point that rear fill is highly overrated. So to recap, I don't intend on adding a giant subwoofer in the rear, all I would like to use the rear for is to add dual 6 inch woofers to replace the stocks in an effort to conserve room and eliminate the useless rear stock speakers.

roger that I gotcha, invert the phase on those little beasts and you should be good to go... also for a better high excursion lower frequency playing speaker check out RE XXX 6.5s they are awsome and can really kick *** if you found a way to make a enclosed space for them

www.reaudio.com
there was a group buy on them once upon a time 179 shipped...

I'm just not sure on how it would sound with bass coming from 3 different sources.

NO ...this isn't what I want. I do NOT want a stealthbox. I want no speaker boxes. I want to only use the pre-existing speaker mounts and to get decent bass from those mounts only.
