Lights dim after installing JL 1000/1 ?

Running my 10w7 with the 500/1 the lights dimmed pretty bad (due to 8 gauge wiring 
) . I've since upgraded to 4 ga. and the lights still dim but not nearly as much, will an optima yellow top solve this problem? (do I need to use it as an additional battery, or can it replace the factory one?)
