Default tweeter positions

where have you guys put your tweeters

i have some eclipse SC8362

tweeter is slightly too big to flush mount it in the factory pods,
this is how i have them atm, and im not happy with it,

im thinking about moving them onto my doors, either the very top corner, just above the a/c vent,
or just above the door handle.., either way they point slightly up,insted on down

any other ideas..
i wanted to put them on the dash and point them up @ the windscreen, but i am going to have no hope getting them there...

thanks

Ive seen tweeter mounted in the doors... doesnt look very good in my opinion. Have you thought about fiberglassing those tweeters flush into those pods? If you do that, aiming possibilities are unlimited.

mounted mine at the very top of the kick panel. soundstage is too low there, so i'm also investigating moving them or adding a 2nd set of tweets.

Mounted mine same place as Motown. I don't have the time to make something custom out of the kick panels right now so they will stay as is.
I like the soundstage, maybe it's a little low when the volume is turned down, but up high it is the only way to go. No where else to put them that will get them as far away from your ears but near equal distance. Also closer to the midrange is important.

yeah and it sounds like crap

so many things i am so angry at about such an expencive car !!!!

definatly no luxuray items,
and no extra expence put into making it any more luxurious

my girlfriends hyundai which was a bit less than 1/4 of the price of the zed has more money spent of making the car a nicer place to be

WhiteZ, before you do that make sure your tire noise isn't the tires. I spent over $300 in sound deadening products to quell the noise, only to find out my tires were feathering and causing much of the howling. I'm getting the tires replaced for free tomorrow from the dealership. The car has 10k miles on.

i actually think that is is half my tyres
and half just crappy nissan sound deadening

i am planning on deadining my car for rattles / my music quality

and yes i do plan on taking the car into nissan and getting them to look at the problem, im sure they will be not much help though

I deaden my subaru's trunk last night and it made a difference even with
one ply, can't hear the exhaust no more.

Personally, i think the BOSE suks even their home theater systems.

I do believe sound proofing the car is important. I used a combination of liquid Spectrum and Extreme dynamat as a base layer. And then used various grades of acoustic foam and neoprene as a second layer. Very quite ride now, but it involved stripping out all of the interior, inclusing carpet.

Nice placement Incognito. I had mine installed in the doorjust above the mid-range but didn't like the sound. So moved them down to the kick-panels. If your pushing more than 100W IMO the further away from your ears and as equal distance as possible is very important. Also, within 8" of the mid range is better. Original spot IMO is just a NO-GO

Mine too! And the same speakers! Wait, did't Big-Al install yours too?

Don't put them in or near the stock (bose) location. They're to far away from the woofer to be of any use performance wise.

Any of you use a custom grill cover (or ever heard of one) over the components? Someone could make some money manufacturing one. I drive around with my speaker covers off.

Nope, but big-al drilled out the upper half area of "fake" holes so the original is a true grill with no obstruction in sound.
