I just got my 2003 350z 3 days ago and want to install Nav./DVD player in the empty compartment. I don't really want to rip out the Bose and rewire everything, so does anybody know if you can hook up a DVD player, and which kind, would work with the factory Bose? I was looking at the Alpine IVA-D300. Thanks

Congrats on the new car. I was actully looking at doing the same thing when I got my Z. Keep the Bose head and speakers, but add a screen with dvd, navigation, and xm. It turns out in order to do this it's about $4000. If you add the factory navigation, from ebay or private classifieds or something, take a look at the NavTV site.

After a while of really listening to the Bose system you may find that it's really not that great, like I did. There's a few more options, but it seems like the best is ripping everything out and replacing it was aftermarket stuff.

I still have my Bose HU. Added an amp, new sub (moved to under strut brace)and replaced the front speakers. I also added the nav. The stock Sub location is perfect for housing the new hardware.
The sound quality is awesome. I have decided to replace my HU as well but there really isn't a need to which is why I haven't rushed to do it. I want to go Sirius cause even with all the CD's I have I get tierd of listening to them over & over.

I have a soundstream dvd player and screen added to my bose stereo. In order to hear the DVD you need to have it FM modulated because they don't have another line in on the Bose HU, unless you have XM or sirius. 03 Z's can mount a 7" screen.

How's the quality on the soundstream? I haven't read any reviews on it or anything. And does the FM modulator work on other dvd players also? I drive from LA to Sacramento quite often (once a month or so), so having a dvd player would be quite nice for the passenger.
