I read something about some part of the circuit board needing to be grounded for the alpine navi thing to go away. That is, one would need to take appart the unit and pick through the boards with the schematics in hand, which one could never get.
It's the module made specifically for boats, in cars however, it allows you to watch movies and go into the "in-depth" menus without stopping and putting the parking brake on. Obviously, since boats don't have parking brakes they had to make a module to allow these units to be used in the marine industry. It basically tricks the HU into thinking the parking brake is on. It may help with what you're talking about. Try doing the parking brake thing, turning off your car, and turning it back on and see if you get the message still or if you can still watch movies and stuff without doing the brake again.

This happens with the navigation. I grounded the parking brake wire to fool the nav that it is alwasy off. This did not eliminate the startup screen.
If I remember right you can bypass it by pressing the 'enter' button on the remote. I was talking with a member on here a few months ago about designing a bypass module that would automaticlly hit the 'enter' button on the remote every time you started the car
Hoever, to do this, you would need a 2nd remote to be hacked up, and you would have to mount the IR sensor in direct sight of the unit.
