Default 12W7 Stealth Install

Hey everyone, I've been searching high and low for a successful 12w7 install and haven't had much luck. Could anyone post some pics or links to a stealth 12w7 job on a Z? Mine's coming in the mail anyday now, and hopefully this summer work will commence, but I wanna know if this install is feasible (or even possible for that matter)

^_^ Thanks.

it's possible, but will take up a lot of trunk space. a 12 wont fit under the strut bar, so you can forget about that. and the depth of the 12w7 is too much to stick in the spare tire area unless you raise the floor. i got a 10w7 and put it unde the strut bar. sounds great. plenty loud, and very clean.

My dileman exactly. I have a 12w7 1000/1 and 300/4 that I am getting ready to install. This guy I met at HiFi Buys and I are doing some trading for the installation (building his website).

Anyways, I know several people have have successfully had a 12w7 installed in their 350. The only reason I want to go with the 12w7 is because I had my system in my old car and I want to take it out and put it in the Z without buying anything but replacement interior speakers.

hmmm, let me link a couple of the pictures from one guys install

It takes up soooo much room though. I'm seriously considering getting a pair of 10w7's instead of using the 12w7 after looking at these pics.

If anybody else has pics of a 12w7 install please post them

Damm the JL 12W7 does take up a lot of space. I too am in the same boat as to trying to find a way to install my JL 12W7 in my Z.

Actually, you'll notice he has fiberglass built up around the sub and those other speakers on either side.

You can build up the fiberglass to a lower level on the box and then you could set stuff on either side, but you still have to contend with installing a huge amp and another smaller amp.

Not impossible, but you and your installer would need to get super creative if you really wanted to save some space...

At this point though I'm really considering just getting a couple 10w7s and calling it a day.

I might go the 10W7 route to. Since having the 12 inch enclosure built is costly. Now all I need to do is get rid of my 12w7 and JL 1000/1 amp.

Hmm, they load up fine for me. Not sure what the problem could be.

I went to see my installer yesterday and we talked about what we're gonna do. I'm going to stay with the 12w7 because he said he could definetly get the woofer under the strut tower. He put me down for a mid-May install and it should take a couple weeks to get done. I'll have pictures before June hopefully of our creation.

post pics when it is done....i wanna see how he gets the 12 under the strut bar...unless the sub is going to protrude past the strut bar so just the magnet is sitting under the strut bar.

Good point. We lifted up the false floor back there covering the spare tire and there is a lot of room to get a 12w7 there with a nice sized enclosure...I'm sure it will probably stick out a little bit, but I'll have room to put stuff like groceries and stuff in front of the sub from what he's telling me.
