Default help, front spkr installed but unbalanced sound

finally got around to installing my infinity kappa's in the front. like many others, i totally mangled my stock speakers in order to reuse the mounting spacer -- worked like stock

the sound is MUCH improved. however after listening to it a little longer on errands today, i noticed the right has a lot more volume than the right -- especially the treble. i had my finace listen to -5 and +5 balance and the difference is pretty obvious....

any ideas where i screwed up? i checked the wiring but it seems ok to me...

thanks

ps: next up, infinity basslink

well ... according to you .. the right is louder than the right ... but the left, well, I don't know about that one

j/p man ... In effect you are hearing the difference in "power" response of the speaker, since you are sitting off axis.

Do the kappas have a way of aiming the tweeter towards you at all (I am assuming these are coaxial speakers, so the tweeter may swivel). If it does, reaim them to get the most direct line possible with your ears.

Also, do these have external units (crossover thingy) .. check to see that the settings are correct on that

Is the left out of phase? Flip the positive and negative speaker wires and see if it sounds better.

Phase wont make one sound louder than the other. Check your x-over setings. Check to see if both tweets are working.

Sure it will. When it goes out of phase it will sound distorted and not accurate, giving it the appearance of quiter. Even though you tripled check flip the wires anyway assuming all of your HU, amplifier, and crossover settings are correct. It should take no more then 1 minute to flip the phase on them.

seems like it was as simple as re-orienting the tweeter to face the listener better... i think the sound is "even" now... heh heh. i checked the speaker wires again, and i'm positive it is properly wired. i'm pretty damn satisfied with the sound by just replacing the front speakers. -- add a sub, and that'll keep me happy for a while in terms of audio.

btw, can someone tell my WHY the stock speaker covers are partially unperforated?????????????????

why the HELL would nissan not puncture ALL of the holes?

Stupidity... j/k I think they planned for a larger speaker in the beginning and then after it went to production decided otherwise. So the speaker actually is placed fairly close to where it is perforated. I was going to drill the rest of the holes out then realized it was not worth it... my 6.1's freakin rock

I can crank my stock HU all the way up to 25 with clarity, but my ears start to hurt and people look at me like i'm an idiot! Both my amps are turned way down and thru lots of playing I finally found a balance with plenty of depth. I couldn't be happier with the final outcome and I love the stealthiness of everything.

Glad your happy jkoc! You and I started about the same time... I think? It took me 4 weekends to get everything installed and finished. A pain at times, but overall a fun project

ps few pics from the project...
