Default does stock head unit have RCA outputs?

Basically, I'm asking if you can hook up an amp to the stock head unit so that I can install a small amp to power a single 10" sub to go behind the seat. I have an '05 enthusiast. I don't have the bose stereo. ALso, would I need to get the sub bracket or is it already in my car? Thanks.

Nevermind, I did a search and found my answer. The answer is NO, unless I get a line converter.

Some amplifiers have built in speaker level inputs as well as the standard line level (RCA) ones.

Check Rockford Fosgate, Boston Acoustics, and JL - one of those three has them IIRC.

The bracket should be there. Pop off the plastic cover behind the seat and you shouold see it.

So are you trying to just mount a sub behind your seat using the built-in mounting bracket? I've heard that that isn't a very good way to go since you kinda need to seal off the area to get decent sound. But if you do, be sure to get a free-air sub, and not just any sub.

thanks for the info Paul350z and maximZ. I actually have a rockford fosgate and PPI amp already so I will check if they have the standard line in on one of those. Yes, I plan to mount a sub in the OEM slot behind the seat. I have a couple subs already so I plan on using one of those. I doubt it is a free-air sub as they are just regular subs. JL and Rockford Fosgates. Although it might not sound that great in that OEM slot, I just want to use what I have without taking up anymore space in the back hatch area and I'm not looking for show quality sound. Just something to give me a little more depth to the sound.

I hear ya. I was going for the same until I caved and went with one of those boxes that goes under the strut bar. Initially I was looking to put something in the stock location though.

Another option people have done is to build a box for the sub and then put that in the stock compartment so it's totally hidden. Whatever you decide to do, let us know. I'm curious how that works out....could've saved me a lot of money.
