Custom iPod Install in my Z
so far i've been driving with it for 4 days now. It doesn't seem to be coming in my way yet. I think I have a habit to leave my arm closer to the driver side area, because the ipod is closer to the passenger side if you look. Also, I like the fact that the alpine 9847 does give all the ipod functions through it but it takes too long to go through your whole album or artist search to find the song your looking for. Thats why I just pick it up find the song or album and put it back.
Hey, have you had any problems with the 9847? The face plate on mine seems to rattle loose on rough roads. Not to the extent that it falls off or anything, but if I'm listening to the radio and I hit preset 1 or 2 the face plate will cut out for a second and reset itself like it's just been reconnected or something. It's really weird, and kind of annoying.
I like this setup ... I was thinking about doing this exact thing because I'm going to use Aux Inputs into the HU for my iPod. Nothing I have seen on a HU Interface/Adapter comes close to the flexibility of the iPod embedded software. Curious though, why not just mount the base in the change cubby so that you could still use the change cubby door when there is no iPod? My plan was to mount the dock in the change cubby itself by cutting the felt container and glueing the dock to it. That way, when I pull the iPod, I can close the change drawer to hide the dock. I'm thinking maybe you tried this first and it just didn't work ??
Oh, and as an aside, I was going to use the Belkin Charger or a SiK iMP to connect to the Dock for charging. Since the Dock has a line out, does anyone know if the output on these chargers interferes with it? Or do you end up with two line out sources?
