I'm going to Japan in 3 weeks - gonna pick up one of these I think:
http://www.fujitsu-ten.co.jp/eclipse...cmt/index.html
You put a microphone in your car, and the stereo analizes the frequency response. It then downloads that response curve to removable flash media, that you then put in your computer. You then adjust all your equalization with a program they provide, reupload it to the stereo, and have PERFECT sound.
http://www.fujitsu-ten.co.jp/eclipse...cmt/eipro.html
Its all in Japanese, but if you click on the links to the right of the computer display, you'll get the idea.
I'm also going to try and arrange to start importing these (along with other crazy JDM head units)

I had it installed at a local shop cause I did not want to void the warrenty and I had the dash custom molded and painted. As far as watching the DVD's while you are moving it is illegal so there is usually a safety feature that ties it into the parking brake. That can usually be bypassed by connecting the sensor directly to the chasis ground. As far as navagation goes you can mess with it all you want and its off the hook. Now the 5435 uses the dvd drive for navagation, but the 5495 uses its built in HD space for the navagation and it is slightly more up to date along with a extra feature or two. I don't have any upclose pics, but there you go

Mike, Sorry to correct you, but the 5495 has been released, infact it is currently being shipped to me as we speak as a replacement for my 5435. you can find it on crutchfield.com as well as other online stores. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-vaHe6a5...search=avn5495

Just remove the wire from the E-brake and mount on the Chasis. That is all you have to do. I did the same thing onmy QX4--tried to get the installers to do it so I wouldn't take apart panels but I did.
