Default Anybody have some suggestions for me?

Alright well im looking to upgrade my headunit system. Basically what im working with/what i would like to have would be..

- Some type of screen to fill the nav compartment so i dont have to have that door on there, just sit kinda flush with the console (not completely flush obviously) and then i have a single DIN slot where i could put some type of single din head unit.

- Im also looking for a setup where i can wire my ipod in and control the playlists and whatever on the screen. Maybe touchscreen?

- I would also like to be able to have Navigation as well.

Im very unfamiliar with the good products out there and their numbers so just throw your suggestions at me.

Just so u guys can kinda have an idea, this is the look im kinda goin for.

Thanx guys

Nobody?

Is there any headunits that i could phase in with a screen like that above. Like have the cds/ipod and everything hook beused with the head unit but then have the nav option as well as dvd through the head unit play on the screen above?

Like, i would like to be able to have the ipod and cds or whatever be used on the head unit but then be able to toggle settings, choose playlists, use nav on the touch screen in the nav compartment..

Thanx

you could just get the avn 5435 or newer and use the audio in for the ipod... but you wouldnt be able to control to ipod through the head unit...

To be able to play an ipod and have nav, your only option might be the Eclipse or Kenwood units. Though you won't be able to control the ipod from the HU. Other route would be install a LCD and HU. For NAV, I have a laptop and bluetooth nav unit. My friend has nav on his handheld that works like a dream.

Here's what I did, details in my sig.

Default Pic of center console

Hey, i just saw your pic of you center console with your LCD. I did a setup simililar to yours but i kept the door for the navi. I was wondering how you went for putting back the 2 top screws from the center console that are originally behing the navi door, now behind your screen. I use double sided tape for mine but as just wondering what you used.
Thanks

you could get a carPC. that would allow you to do everything you want, and more.

This is what i have, and a picture of it installed. I installed the unit in one of the cubbies behind the seats. It fits perfect. I think its nearly a 1 din but I don't know since i didn't install it in the dash.

I have a Kenwood 8017, and I'm looking to get the iPod interface for it...

It should be controled with the touch screen... I haven't seen the unit yet.

Rather then add another door speaker, I'm going to try and do a speaker conversion for that goofy door... Get a custom fine mesh grill, and use it as a center channel.

I also have the Kenwood NAV.

I'm not sure what it will look like yet... Maybe I'll get one of those rectangualr kickers in there or something. But having a center channel would be nice, and that door is a bit goofy. (I currently have my remote behind it...)

So if you do go double din down below, that is one way of going about it.
