The resolution on the F7000 sucks. It's half that of the Lilliput and the Xenarc. The best, fit wise, is the Xenarc. It fits with no cutting or modification. Just use some zip ties to hold it in place and you're set.

Oh, are you wanting to get a touch screen or just a normal screen?

The Farenheit T-7000MHR's resolution is 2400x480. A standard definition television has 720x480 as a reference. The Farenheit is set for 16:9 vice TV's 4x3 aspect ration meaning letterbox video shows full screen without those anoying bars top and bottom.

If your connecting a computer screen you're going to have issues with the 16:9 I have a Tosheba laptop with a narrow angle screen and it takes getting use to and a special driver for it. If you have digital cable or digital satellite reception in your Z the resolution probably isn't going to be the best either

I have the Soundstream Touchscreen Dvd system. I like the fit and the resolution is perfect. The price is negotiable....
If your looking for just a screen then i don't think this is the one for you. I got it for 1400 installed. It came with 2 LCD screens because its a Headrest kit. So I only use one of them Obviously.

According to that website, and every other website I can find, the real resolution of the Farenheit T-7000MHR is 480 x 234; Not anywhere near 2400 x 480. It may be able to display that resolution but it isn't native so it's a meaningless resolution. I can make my car look like a Porshe if I squint my eyes but that doesn't make it one.

The manufacturers do a stupid trick of counting each color pixel as a true pixel which is really slimey of them. So if you see 1440 horizontal resolution it really means 480. Kind of like how amp makers used to quote the peak power of amps instead of the realistic RMS rating.

I've got the Lilliput and have no problems whatsoever displaying 16:9 but you do have to have a video card that will support it. Mine does. If you don't have a video card that supports that ratio then you can use a program called PowerStrip to make a custom setting for your video card that will allow it.

<edit>

Oh, the Lilliput and Xenarcs are 800 x 480 natively. So I guess they are more like 3.4 times the resolution.

I'm just reading the box

You've got me interested now. I'll have to run a signal generator into the thing and make some measurements at work. It does help that I work at the largest satellite broadcast television network on the planet.

I use it looks good to me. Not nearly the quality of an analog screen but there's no analog sources in the car available ... DVD sux but that's the best I have. It's suppose to only be 90 degrees here on Friday, might bring the Z in and run the test on the thing.

Here's something really odd - looks like all these sites are cutting and pasting the same information

TheCarStereo.com states: Resolution: 1440x 234 but they can't spell dimension correctly.

MillionBuy.com says the same but still can't spell dimension correctly either.

DiscountJungle.com says the same ... and mis-spells the same.

AH! Found one with dimension spelled correctly - same resolution.

800 x 234 does make some sense - but so does 800 x 480 does too.

Hmmm, I would be pissed if I was Farenheit and people were misrepresenting my product, I didn't buy one of those because of the lower resolution.

I'm really interested now to find out what the actual res is.

DVDs look really good on my display by the way. I've got my carputer out of my car as I develop my own front end (nothing out there does everything I want), but I'll hook it up tomorrow and take a picture of a DVD playing to show ya'. I still have to take pictures of my HID head lights though... damn you TV gods! Alway forcing me to watch horrible but addictive reality TV instead of doing things that are productive!

<edit>

The actual resolution mine works at is more like 800 x 450 or something odd like that, I can't remember the exact number. I'll post it when I hook the thing up tomorrow.

Most NTSC video is 720 x 480 any who - that's full D1 resolution. I haven't seen a home HD DVD player let alone one for the car. Using the 3-5:1 ratio a seven inch screen ought to be viewed at 21 to 35 inches which is about eyeball distance to the chairs. LCD screens are pretty nice as far as color, white, and black levels when compared to the "rave" plasma sets but not as good as 'ye ole CRT.

The viewing experence in the car using my little screen is plenty good enough for the intended use. I'll never connect a computer to it - I'm an IT manager on the day job and teach computer networking at the local college ... I get enough computer exposure.

I would like to connect up a display to view Netstumbler/AirSnort war driving in dash ... that would be cool. I might try that with my truck as wardriving in a Z ... nobody would suspect.

Hey Barthelb, that's a really nice install. So for 1400 you can get the LCD and the nav system? Where did you pick that up?

Its not Nav, it can only play Dvd's, Vcd's,mp3's and photos. It does come with a player and a box for up to 3 inputs or maybe 2. My friend installed it and hardwired my PS'2 and my radar detector.

Man I did not realize how difficult it is to take an almost usable picture of an LCD.

The dot on the guy's teeth is actually a few pixels in my camera gone bad. I've got even more than that bad but haven't been using the camera for anything other than snap shots so haven't replaced it.

Anyway, here's the pic of the monitor with a DVD playing. It really does look better in person...

This is the Lilliput 629GL-70NP/C/T 7'' LCD Touch Screen VGA Monitor - Black.
I think I paid $240 for it on eBay but bought it new from Case-Mods.com
