Default Just installed AUX IN on non-bose

Just installed soundgate's AUXNISS unit onto my '05 non-bose coupe. Turns the CD changer control into a set of female RCA's. Perfect for iPod, sat radio, or anything else, and no crappy FM modulator!

More details! I want more details!!!!

Where did you install the unit? Was it a Do-It-Yourself install? What are you hooking up to it? Pictures?

The install was pretty straight forward, and completely do it yourself. All you have to do is take off the dash to have access to the back of the stereo. There's some good instructions on that here:

http://liljerk.morpheus.net/350Z/dash_removal/

The unit plugs into the exisiting CD changer control on the back, splice a couple of wires for power, run the cables out, and you're all done. Just hit the CD button and it cycles between a "changer" (the line in) and normal CD.

As for the sound quality, it sounds great! I'm running an iPod off of it, and it sounds as good as a line out should sound. Much better than an FM modulator.

Sadly, I didn't take pictures, but like I said, its a really straight forward install. There's a thread here that has the setup as well with pics:

As for whether its worth the price; well, if an FM modulator is around 40 anyways, you're almost there I think its definitely worth it.

Thanks for the details.

So from the sound of it, if I hooked up a satellite radio to it, all I would have to do is use the CD button to cycle between the real CD and the satellite radio.

This is good because it will allow me to retain the stock dash appearance yet still get satellite radio installed.

For the Bose systems on the touring I think you need the PAC AAI-NIS

http://www.pac-audio.com/products/aai.htm

It connects to your SAT radio connection, but only if you do not have factory SAT radio. I guess if you do have factory SAT radio, you could un plug it and use the AAI-NIS to create an aux-in. The changer controls on your bose unit are already in use, so the Soundgate AUX-NIS will not work.

I wish they would have the controller like you can get for all the "other" factory radios. Id rather control my ipod from the HU. My other car has aux only, and it sucks fiddeling with it while driving.

I guess I missed something awhile back. So there is more than one device to do this? The one I was looking at specifically said that my HU must have CD6 printed on the HU button, which I do not.
I have a base model Z with the plain CD player, no changer (I can't remember if that is even an option on the base with the non-Bose HU).
