I just wanted to put this post out here for all you Z owners. Yesterday we did a Blue z. The car allready had a 300/4 with focal 165kp's installed into it. A cda9833 and a alpine dvd player with the alpine touch screen behind the factory panel.

We moved the 300/4 from the back hatch to behind the driver seat where the facotry sub goes. We carpeted it out and built a small rack and added a 500/1 to it.

The 300/4 was hooked up to the KP'2 by a single channel. This is a 4 channel amp and was only utilizing 2 channels of it. It needed to be bridged so those fronts could see 150 each. The way it was the speakers could not be turned up past volume 13 with the gains all the way down before you could just hear the distortion.

The cd player was setup in tri mode "low mid and high" Instead of Front Rear and Sub. This system was not biamped so why would someone flip the switch ont he bottom of the radio beats me. Doing so would not allow me to turn on the 24db crossovers or even utilize the radio the way I needed to.

I was told that a door kit of dynamat was used on the doors. I didnt go in and look but if it was I wanna know where the hell they put it. Everything in the doors rattled. The factory tweeter pods were the worst. I guess they were not tightend down all the way or the tweeters were just sitting in them and not mounted.

For the amount of money this guy had invested into his system it sounded about half as good as it could have. Lesson of the story qualify your sales people at yoru local shops before you let them put in your gear. Ask them how long the installers doing the work has been int he business. Ask them about high end systems they have done in the past.

Also. Does the Z enclosure have a website? We put one of these boxes in with a 10W6 and I was just courious about it. I was not real fond of the carpet used and I wanted to see if there were other options for covering it. I really recommend vinal if you are getting it done. The black carpet just didnt seem to blend well with the black bar it sits under. Maybee I am just overly picky.

Had a similar thing happen to me when I was 17 and was getting my first system put in. Luckily I was able to hear that the speakers weren't sounding right, I figured out how to take apart my car and check the install.....needless to say an amateur could tell they were installed VERY improperly.
Apparrently the guy had a prolem fitting the rear speakers, so to mount them he CUT the rubber surround and screwed them in, in some places I guess he got even lazier and just screwed threw the speakers surround.
Needless to sayI raised hell and got new speakers and Have installed everything myself since then.
Some shops are just there for a quick buck

almost exactly the same story, but mine just stopped working and I found that he just twisted the wires together and taped them and one came loose.

No offense to the true professionals out there, but I am the only one who wires anything on my vehicles.

And that's why I did everything on mine too.

I'd rather get it done right the first time.

Yep, all my own stuff as well. It may not be perfect, but at least it was cheap!
