Default tweets w/comps

for those of you w/tweeters hooked up to your front components in the door, or those who just placed tweeters elsewhere down low in the Z...how does it sound? I'm looking at the Infinity Kappa 63.7i's but don't know how that will sound being so low, and close to the ground? thanks for any and all input.

n does anyone know if they sell an aftermarket part replacement for that triangle piece with the stock tweeter, like just a plain triangular panel piece or something?

I have my component tweets mounted in the kick panels with an extra set of ambient tweeters in the stock location. CDT HD line offers all you need to do this, but since you already have an idea of Infinity, then you could still get the ambient tweeters that play only the extreem highs (8khz and above) as an add-on called Upstage. This setup works very well because the primary tweets are mounted near and close to on-axis to the mids, they are also a good distance from the ears and closer to equal distance than stock location. The ambients help raise the soundstage and keep things from sounding like their coming from the floor. Overall the best of both worlds. A better choice would probably be to mount the ambients on the dash and point to the window but it was easier to mount them in stock location.

rears are a waste for anything more than rear fill imo. I use a pair of coaxials back there with the Tweets removed.. I have 95% of my music coming from the fronts and the rears just used to add a little low end since the sub is low-cutoff at 80hz and the mids are High pass at 100hz.

thanks. might just upgrade to nice front speakers for now then, and forget about the rears.

Interestingly, the stock (non-Bose) system barely uses the rear speakers as far as I can tell.

It's because they are set at a rediculous 8 or 12 ohms. The stock rear speakers might as well be paperweights, because they serve no purpose.

Starting to think kappa 6.1s might be a better setup. Is 140Wx2 (bridged) too much to power these speakers- rated at 100W RMS/each?

I was amazed (dismayed) that the fronts are rated at a paltry 40W Max. That's garbage.
