Let's not start a flame war. You own a 350Z, which is not a cheap car. I think you understand the concept of "you get what you pay for".

Fair enough, but realize that your previous statement was bound to offend a few people.

If I may ask, what have you used in the past that is comparable?

Image Dynamic, Tru, Brahma, Zapco's Old amps were by far kick ***...Adire.

I'm stuck on ID as it sits now...I can't get over the quality of there stuff and the cost of it all.

Don't get me wrong I have a JL 500/1 amp in my car now...But i paid 50 dollars for it new.

The IDMAXX is A strong competior to the W7...one is 400 dollars the other close to 800...To me if your buying the W7 your buying the name more than anything.

Again i'm not really bashing JL...in a sense I am...But more or less I dont' liek how they Inflated prices B/c they 'Took' over mainstrean car audio.

People should just do there reasearch and Read a little...theres more out there that meets the eye.

"Buying the name more than anything" - I'll give you that, in a sense. Surely some of the cost is for the brand name. This could be compared to the ongoing NISMO debate. To be honest I hadn't heard of IDMAXX until you mentioned it so surely some additional research could have paid off. Do I feel as though I paid too much for what I have? I could go either way. Yes it wasn't cheap, but also the quality continues to amaze me.

I will add that I managed to fry a crossover within the first two weeks. My dealer assures me that it's rare and he readily replaced it for me. We'll see how the rest of the components hold up in the long haul.

Pictures to come, if it ever stops raining in the northeast...

Hey I'm not Knocking Your Swtup in the least. If I had the Extra Money to spend on JL...Probably not...but it's all preference. Not many people have heard of ID or half the compnanys I mentioned...but thats expected when your not into it as much as I am or other enthusiasts.

But it's like going out and spending 2 dollars mroe on Rice krispies when you coudl buy the Store brand for cheaper...When it's essentially the same thing!!!

the idmax is a strong competitor as far as sq goes. in fact its probably a little better. but for long term durabliity i'd probably have to hand it to the w7. well not even durability, its just that alot of people push the max beyond what its designed for and then complain when it breaks. and yes, i have a idmax right now. in fact im going to install it tomorow. should be interesting to see the diff between the truck install and this one. and yes ive also owned a w7. but as i like to try different things in search of the ultimate sub, i never keep them longer than a cou ple months anyway so...
but i do agree that jl is way overpriced, especially since they only have a 1 year warranty. i would go with any comparable eclipse over jl any day of the week.
edit:forgot to add that i also feel the break in period is an old wives tale. ive owned kicker l7s, the original ones, eclipse titanium, jl w7, diamond audio tdx, image dynamics idmax and fixing to be orion p series and never did a break in period. ive never had one damaged due to this and never noticed a difference in sq or spl over the time i had the subs. and with the eclipse i put 2400 watts to it from day one. btw its rated for 750.

It's not that it could damage the sub, it's that as it "breaks in" it loosens up and sounds better.

I've had the TypeX (10") since 12/04 and no complaints here. It's powered by a JL 500/1. I have a non-ported sub box. All in all it sounds great. My only problem is looking in the rearview mirror...makes me think i'm back in cali.
