Replace the bose hu? suggestions please.
Well my bose Hu skips all of my cd's pretty badly, even brand new ones so I know its not the cd's. My car is no longer under warranty so I am trying to decide if I should a) buy a new bose hu and call it a day, or a used one. or b) buy an aftermarket hu and lose the cassette deck and 6 disk changer (I dont use the cassette deck much... but the 6 disk is nice.) How much does a stock bose hu go for new? used?
Or should I leave it how it is, and buy an ipod to replace all my cd's and play it through the radio transmitter. Radio works great on my z.
I can't decide what to do about my music problem. I need some feedback about what the best way to go would be.

go aftermarket
they look better
have better features
will sound 100% better...
will probally be cheaper than buying nissan crap.....
mp3s are good vs stackers....
trust me...
just upgrade to a new head unit and you will be happy....
alpine are a good buy with the ipod adapters, so you can controll the ipod thru the deck, better than FM transmitter....
alpine is also a very good brand, especially if it is just the HU you plan to upgrade... go for it..

both good ideas, i probably could get a really cheap used bose hu, and I never new alpine made a hu with an ipod adapter. thats pretty cool. Which model is the alpine one for the ipod? how much does it go for?
ive never tried a lens cleaner disk... can you buy those anywhere? I'm wondering if that would actually work. Sometimes the bose hu doesnt even read my cds it will just not even load and skip to the next cd.

if im not mistaken the entire alpine range now is adaptable to ipods
just need the adaptor, im sure you could get one thrown in if you buy one.
im sure you could pick up an entry level alpine deck, to do what you need it for, for maybe $400 ?
im not sure on your prices over there, just roughly working it out, to what they cost here...

Thanks for the advice, I think I may try that lense cleaner and then if it still skips just go aftermarket... some guys on here want like 150 for their used bose headunits... forget that, i'd rather drop an extra 100 or so and get a nicer aftermarket one.

It seems that everyone likes alpine... can anyone tell me which models are the decent but not break the bank models... id love mp3 and ipod ready. What is this adapter that makes them ipod ready? I know you can play an ipod through the radio with the ipods itrip or something similar.

I'm a Kenwood guy. I just picked up a KDC-MP4028. Nothing fancy...just straight good quality and the pre-outs and power I needed. I had an Excelon model in my old ride and honeslty I can't tell a difference between the Excelon and the regular models besides some of the bling. Here's a list of all the new Kenwood stuff and what options they have.

Sweet, yeah kenwood is decent stuff from what ive heard too... I saw that kenwood has a double din touch screen cd/mp3/dvd player that would likely fit right into my dash so If i can find that for a discount I would jump right on it.... its awesome looking and i think i can hook the ipod up too!!
