Default new sub recommendation please!

ok just built a new custom trunk floor box today, ad current sub isn't really matched well with it. i need a sub that would be perfect for 1-1.2 cu ft of SEALED airspace in preferrably a 10, but would consider a 12. any thoughts? thanks all!

JL12w6.
Mine is ported in 2.7 cubic inches, but sealed in half the space would be earbleeding.

Or screw it all if you have the mounting depth and grab a w7.

If, money is an issue, Cadence solo strikers are excellent subs.

I would say cerwin vega, but the old Vega124 subs sound better in ported boxes.

Cadence wild beasts series are KILLER subs with a killer price. Heres a link to one.

Fosgate power series subs are killer as well (little bit pricey though.)

Cant leave out the ole alpine subs, which are great subs for the price.

The best subs are JL, get the 10 w 7 or the 12 w6 can't get better than that. I won every spl and show comp with my setup! Also can't go wrong with Jl, great support and warranty.

The IDMAX in my opinion is a better sub than both the W7 and the W6v2. In a 1 cu ft. sealed enclosure, that is the sub to get.

Keep in mind that if your system is not tuned properly, it really wont matter which sub you buy. Spend the time and effort to make sure your sub is performing up to its potential.

D350Z10 - JL is not the "best" by any means. They make excellent subs, but it can get better, especially for the money. I'm glad you won every SPL comp with your setup, but that does not mean they are the "best." They are the best to you based on your needs and preferences.

I have also won competitions with my setup. I compete in SQ comps. Currently i am using a pair of OZ Audio Matrix Elite subs and I honestly feel they are the best sub for my needs, but they would not work as well with Skittlez setup, hence why i didn't even mention them.

In any case, if you can fit an IDMAX in there, I think that would be your best choice for both SPL and SQ.

JL subs are badass man, I went through 4 different subs untill I settled on my w6. Granted they are pricey, and I couldnt agree more, a properly tuned setup is more important that the speaker. The sub is only as good as the box it is in, period. If you have the cash to blow, I would go JL, but thats me. There are better subs out there for the money though. My opinion, blow your load on a properly tuned box and budget on the speaker. Decide which speaker to get first, and then have the box custom tuned to that subs exact specs, you will be more than happy.

JL and Kicker are your best bet, rocksford used to be good but in the last couple years their products have gone to ****. a JL 12w6 or 12L7 kicker would do some damage.

You have to decide what you are looking for. Sound quality, SPL, or a combo of both...

just looking for something that sound good with all types of music. (except country!) and that is basically it! the box is built, now i am just going to have to make a couple of spacers and then build up my floor about and inch or so.

Rockford has fallen off over the years. I would pass on their products since there are several other companies that are superior in performance and value.

^^^ I agree with that statement. Those power series subs are good subs, but for the money you can definatley find better, I just listed them because they are decent speakers.
