Default finally fiished sub box!

ok i finally finished my trunk floor sub project! whatcha think? this is my 3rd setup, and by far the best IMO. sounds killer, hits hard and surprisingly low being a sealed box. sub is Fosgate T1 12 D4. airspace is 1.3 cu ft sealed.
first off, here is the box.....20x28x6-approx

i gotta tell ya, it sounds so much better than i was expecting, especially being a sealed box. it is actually quite overpowering. hits like crazy, and gets surprising low! plus i love the way it looks! now i know Fosgate isn't supposed to be a good as they used to be, but let me tell you all this sub is fairly excellent. for the price and sound, i am completely satisfied now i just gotta get me some components to even it out

sealed boxes are better for lowend bass, the ported are only louder at certian freq, usually higher bass

I had a strut box with 10" previously and now have 12" similar to yours but in F/G. I am much more impressed with the tire well location too..less rattles and more earth shattering bass. The strut box IMO sealed off the rear area and only allowed for 2" of air space above the strut. In the tire well you have the whole compartment open under the strut for air movement towards the front.

Actually, a sealed box generally does not have the low end output of a well designed ported box. However, it does provide better sound quality in most applications, with the trade off of slightly less overall output.

Basically, ported boxes are known to excel in their output at the lower frequencies. Sealed boxes are usually punchier, but lack the output in the lower end.

Well, look at it like this:

If you put the same sub in a proper ported box, you will probably be blown away at the output. More so than you already are.

I'm a sealed box fan myself. However, i do know that ported boxes tend to give you the chest thumping feel that some people desire.

dont think i could handle any more bass! plus no room for a bigger box!

i know what you mean though. i had an MB Quart reference 10 in a sealed box and sounded great, then put it in a begger ported box and it increased bass output significantly. but like i said, what i got now is more than enough
