Default Choosing between Eclipse AVN2454 & Kenwood DDX7017

I'm wanting to get a new double din dvd head unit and I found these two as my favorites. The Kenwood is ipod ready and navi ready, but the eclipse has 24 bit DAC, anti-theft unit, and IMO has better sound quality just bc its an eclipse. Can anyone vouch for the AVN2454? How many volts are the preamps? The Kenwood comes with 5V but im hoping the eclipse is 8V. Someone help me choose!

Eclipse

Kenwood

Keep in mind that Eclipse won't do satellite radio. That's why you can find that unit for so cheap now.

For the money the AVN 5435 is the best bet; I've found it for as little as $1400 on eBay (new in the box). While the AVN 5495 has a hard drive for the GPS and it records your CDs to its music library (at 1X speed!) the difference in price is just too great to justify these features (not to meantion the fact that Sirius support is not working at the moment with the 5495, you'll have to wait for a firmware upgrade for that).

If you don't need NAV, you might want to consider ECLIPSE's AVX2494 (6.5" Wide TFT Touch Panel VGA Display, CD/DVD/MS Multi-Source Receiver with 20GB HDD for Music Juke.

where is the avx2494 available? i tried to find it on the eclipse website but couldnt..and whats it retail for? I found that on ebay the price is similar to the pioneer avic d1... so i mean why not get the pioneer since it comes with navigation too? The main benefit of the avx2494 is that you get a 20gig hard drive.. but for the price, wouldnt it be better to get the nav even if you already have it?

I believe the Eclipse avx2494 you can play regular dvd movies with no nav. The Pioneer D1 plays nav dvd software, but need to connect an external dvd player to play dvd movies. The kenwood ddx7017 also plays dvd movies, but no nav.

Product information on the AVX2494 can be found at:www.eclipse-web.com At the top of their page, go to "Products", followed by "DVD", "AVX" and then select "AVX2494". You should also be able to locate a "Dealer" at the same web site. The info on their site is more informative than the catalog. The AVX2494, Bose Interface Adaptor and labor is going to set you back $1800 plus.
