Opinions on Pioneer DEH-P80MP?
I just ordered one for my Daytona Blue Z. I think the Blue head unit and orange dash lights would match the blue and orange of my exterior.
What do you guys think? Any tips on setting it up or anything?

Ground it well. I had that same unit before I switched to the p860mp for the changer controls. Great headunit. Did you get the pioneer or premier series. The premier series will say "premier" on the front instead of pioneer. The difference is the preamp output voltages. I think the normal pioneer brand preamp voltages are 5v wheas the premier is 6.5v. I loved that headunit, and I would get it again.

I have the Premier version which I can say sounds great with the stock speakers, or at least it sonds 10X better then the stock unit. This headunit's brightness takes all the attention away from the interior's amber lit interior, but you can turn the brightness all the way down.
It has alot of fine tuning for the built in EQ and the sound is just amazing. I did mention that I did not upgrade the speakers as of yet, but i when i do, i'm pretty sure i'll be happy.

it's ok. the blue get's kind of dull after awhile. you control everything with the ****, but i find it kinda difficult to push down on the edge of the **** to change songs sometimes. it can get tedious with the settings. let me know if u need help. you should have asked me before you order..i would have sold you mind for cheap.

D'oh! I'm from Houston too. It's ok I got mine for $245.50 shipped brand new =).
I got the Pioneer, not the Premier. I'm just running a simple 10" sony xplod sub and 600watt Rockford Fosgate Amp.

And yes, getting the settings just right is very tedious. I find myself playing with the unit when i'm in traffic. But a great headunit IMO....

I have the Premier DEH-P8MP with the metra kit in the photo above, it looks very clean and almost factory with the rest of the Z interior. Overall the HD is nice, it puts out 60x4 maz (28w rms) per channel so its more high powered than most HU's. Sound is great, only gripe is it only has a 3-band equalizer for tuning. I would prefer a 9 or 13 band for more fine tuning.
