hi, i do sales @ a local circuit city and we carry the tomtom 300, honestly for the price they're asking for you;re better off getting the magellan 360, 10x better plus you dont need the memory card, all the maps are preloaded on the magellan.

I've wondered for a while now on how the fitment would be for the tomtom in the factory nav spot. Anyone have measurements of the tomtom?

I did . I'll go dig them up . I know it is 2 inches deep and about 4-41/2 inches wide . Maybe 4 inches tall , but I need to check again . Thanks for getting back with those other suggestions , too .

Here are the measurements for the TomTom 300 :

4.5 " H
3.6 " W
2.3 " D
Weight 11 oz.

I will check these out after but I was still wondering if anyone has velcroed one in or something similar so that it can be removed for another vehicle .

I know it's recommended to have the unit mounted in place w/o an obstructed view to the sky. So placing it in the cubby hole, would it hinder the unit's full capability?

it is alright 75% of the time, i use a re-radiating antenna, it works perfectly 98% of the time. ie better than mounted to the windcreen in a normal fashion
