Default question about subs/amp ohms

I have a question about bridging amps and ohms.

the subs im looking to buy are 400w rms, 4ohms w Dual Voice Coils. They also make these subs in 2 ohm form, w/ no DVC, but they are harder to come by. The amp im looking at, to power two of these, is 800 W x 1 @ 4 Ohms Bridged RMS

question is, can i used the bridged amp to power two DVC subs? or does the fact they are DVC even matter?

Thanks!

You want the dual 4 ohm subs to be able run it with that amp.

You what they call will be running the subs series and then parralel.

Basicaly...
Series
On each sub you take the positive from one voice coil connecter and connect it to the negative of the other Voice coil connecter.

Now parralel both subs...

Take the left over positives from both subs and connect them together and same for negatives.

This will result in a 4 ohm load.

Best advise I can give you: Don't waste your money on Rocksford Fosgate...

Their quality in the last 4 years has gone downhill bad, over rating amps/subs, subs blowing way too soon...

You can run two of either of those.

If you go with the 2ohm model, you'll have to wire them in series for 4 ohms

If you go with the DVC 4ohm ones then you'll have to wire the VCs of each in series, then connect them in parallel to the amp. That'll give you 4 ohms

Image Dynamics are great subs But I don't think the pricing is that far apart.

JL Audio is overpriced, but only because they have to pay for all that useless advertising.

I recommend Adire Audio

JL Audio seems to be the sub of choice for Z owners. It does sound good but I was put off by the price when comparing them other subs.

I've got a single Alpine Type-R 10" that sounds great. Anything more and I'd be obsessed with de-rattling the car. Where it is now I have awesome sound and no rattles.

Best Subs on the market:

Fusion Johna's (Awesome line of subs as well as door speakers)

JL Audio W7's (Awesome subs at a great price)

Kicker L7 or Comp VR's (L7's pound hard and are a little expensive but well worth the money after the 4 week break in cycle, Comp VR's inexpensive and near same quality as the L7 line...very impressive output)

Memphis Audio (expensive but great quality)

Alpine (Type R's are the best line but if you think JL is too expensive steer clear of those )

Eclipse (The new 15" eclipse that was introduced last year is probably the sickest sub on the market now...If you were to do a real custom job fit that bad boy in your spare tire well and you will be giving back massages to every driver within a 3 block radius)

I dunno about that Alpine remark. I got an open-box 10" (the new 2005 model) for like $60 shipped off of ebay. And it kicks azz.

ebay is a whole nother story of course you can get things cheap there but still with sacrifice. 12 inch alpine R's are almost $1000 each in stores here, they are good but not that good. A JL stealth kit would be great and not a bad price, those w3's are just right for the Z. If your car was black I'd recomend some Fusion Johnah's . I just put 4 12" Johnah's in the back of a civic for a friend and its looks great with the green faces and lights with his blacked out civic.
