Charming little quip, but perhaps Mr. redz32/bluez33 would like to suggest how one would go about installing a factory NAV into an existing car. All inquiries with 800-Nissan1 and local dealers produced the "It can't be done" reply. Oh sure, one can buy the parts (LCD, NAV unit and wiring harness) from Nissan (Approximate cost - $2,500) and then pay some hack to put it in (another $300-$500), but is that reasonable I ask you?

To the original poster: look into NAV units by Panasonic and Alpine. A forum search for NAV will come up with quite a few hits. You will see mostly the Alpine 6.5" and the Fahrenheit 7" screens being used.

Alpine and Pioneer both amke great navs, but I think the pioneer is alittle more advanced. I would buy whichever one I can find for cheaper, and a 7" screen.

The LCD is the Alpine TME-M760; you can make out the model number quite clearly in this shot: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/qirex/...es/Image0.html (look for it in the upper right corner of the screens plastic frame.)

A am considering doing the same thing, TME-M760 + NVE-N852A in the stock pocket. It seems that some went with the Fahrenheit screens to save some cash and were later dissapointed by the washed out and blurry image.

Default How did you mount the screen?

Did you bolt it to something?

What mods did you need to do to the compartment?

Default nav as DVD player

Does anyone know if any of these nav systems can be used as a dvd player? That would be the system that i would buy. I would also suggest looking at the kenwood system, It has touch screen and a few other cool feature.

well I had mine installed by a pro.

He *did* mention that he had to CUT the surrounding frame 1/8" off on the rigtht side so the screen controls would clear. He took out the "basket" from the "space" and gave it to me for when my lease is up.

The pioneer system will play DVDs, the alpine screen can take 3 more inputs (one from a dvd/ps2). However, they wont work if you only have ONE screen mounted in the front. I'm sure this can be worked around as its prolly a simple electtronic hack.
